from 35 to 48,000 I grew up in the 60s & 70s, a young adult in the 80s. The US was proud of being a melting pot. We had systemic racism, but we lauded ourselves for being welcoming to all. The Japanese internment camps were an object lesson we wanted to avoid doing again. Now, we're doing worse.
