What on earth persuaded Facebook's algorithm to show me a video ad of people being delighted by the amount of dead skin they can slough off their feet with a nasty looking gadget? 🀒

I don't remember anyone eating curry in Some Like it Hot either.

Finding Nemo didn't leave much room for a surprise either.

The local Facebook pages are alive with a few people making a lot of noise about the town council flying a Pride flag for Pride month. Why is no-one up in arms about those twee knitted decorations on postboxes? Surely this represents knitters getting special treatment that I don't have? πŸ€”

Feeling sad after finishing Beserker by @adrianedmondson.bsky.social - the sign of a cracking book. It was facinating and funny, but it also made me think. Very unusual for an autobiography. I'm also intrigued by how well structured it was for a self-confessed beserker - turned stoic! πŸ™‚

No proper rain for ages and it arrives promptly for school run time, then stops, only to restart with avengance the next time I need to leave the house. πŸ™‚

Word of the day is β€˜bugiard’ (17th century): one who distorts the truth beyond all recognition to fit their own agenda.

Have just ordered chocolate to be sent to my sister and family. The urge to 'forget' to change the delivery address from the billing address was strong.

We watch the orange convict from afar but we have similar activities in the UK. Those who shout about freedom of speech also demand censorship of libraries. But the biggest fiction section is usually crime. So murders are fine, LGBTQ+ stories not so much... www.theguardian.com/books/2025/a...

Two separate visits from our local badgers. Anyone have any idea what food they are after? It's been filled with shop-bought compost and they don't appear to be eating the bulbs. Our garden soil has far more worms and little beasties than this compost. 🌿

I always wonder if the wildlife are bemused by the humans all suddenly getting up an hour earlier on the Monday after the clock change.

I've been watching The Voice with my daughter and I think writers should get the equivalent of the @emmawillis.bsky.social hugs and support. You finished a chapter! Wow! You edited out most of what you wrote yesterday? Fantastic!

It couldn't find it when there was a wired connection. It can't find it via Wifi. I'm sure the printer is the machine they were raging against.

From a family where two of us; me and my 15 year old daughter, have been fighting long covid for over 4 years. There is still no treatment via the NHS other than CBT, which just helps you to cope better with having your normal life taken away. Please sign: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/in...

Extra points if you say it out loud. My teenage kids still occasionally shout out Batman when they see enough elderly ladies in one place. And yes, I consider that a very proud parent moment. πŸ™‚

Think this could be word of the year so far.

Currently on a mission to have as varied a diet as possible to improve gut health. Supermarket had mint leaves but no parsley so plans for a Persian meal have been thwarted. A mojito is almost as healthy - right? #MojitoTuesday

TEACHERS, LIBRARIANS, PARENTS! If you're looking for a free bookish activity for your kids, here's a lesson-long virtual school visit I did with @booktrust.bsky.social, all about how I went from being a young reader to writing books like Varjak Paw & Tyger! #BookSky www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWHw...

I have a feeling that today may be remembered as a momentous culinary breakthrough. Thing 2 has announced that she is having yule log and poppadoms for lunch.

"Everything happens for a reason" Or maybe it is just due to the dead disrupting the afterlife and there's money to be made? Try my romantic comedy today - you'll never guess the twist at the end! amzn.to/42I9t6i #booksky

In the classic 'Christmas Carol' tale, spirits visit Scrooge and tell him the error of his miserly ways. What if the dead disrupted the afterlife to earn some cash by visiting the living and giving them a few life lessons? This romantic comedy is not about chocolates and roses... amzn.to/4jz0biF

Either one of our squirrels thinks we're due a really cold winter, or she hasn't been reading the books that claim squirrels give birth in the spring...

Had a delayed winter solstice BBQ last night so now my Christmas jumper smells of charcoal smoke. Might try eating yule log on the summer solstice just to even things up.
