Very interesting and informative episode on the UK Strategic Defence Review and more widely, UK's place in the world, (un)readiness Vs the known and likely coming threats.

Nobody could have foreseen this! I can't reply in this thread @tryangregory.bsky.social would be nice to be in your gang (appreciate your need for control and management of this) 😊

Sick Kids Are Actually Healthier Than Healthy Kids, Says Study Made Up By AI

My aunt, the doctor, told me a new joke. She asked: How bad is the new Covid variant? I replied: I don’t know, how bad is it? And she answered: The new Covid variant is so bad that the media is having to report on it. And then neither of us laughed.

Quite a thing - as any student of judicial politics will tell you - for a letter to be signed both by former supreme court justice Jonathan Sumption and by former appeal judge Stephen Sedley. They are about as far apart in their judicial outlooks as possible. lawyersletter.uk#signatories

I was a critic of Labour even before the 2024 GE. (It has been obvious for years and years that they've played the Brexit card dead wrong!) Yet I often took their side on other issues against a cruel Tory government. There was a world in which they got the other stuff right. But not ours, it seems.

Paging @sturdyalex.bsky.social 😁

www.cbsnews.com/video/millio... Populism normalised this. It normalised millions of children being unprotected for airborne transmission of a virus that causes organ damage and this is ongoing. This is not ok and it’s not normal for governments to wash their hands of responsibility.

This is shocking. Despite all we know. It's still shocking.

AI is eating itself 😁

This post popped up on my Facebook Memories. Was a reshare from G+ of a @mikeelgan.bsky.social post on this day 9 years ago. Would be interesting to see it revisited now for all major nations.

Great thread from Michael on the ongoing calamity that is Brexit.

And politically stupid, too. Alienates core vote (& they do have places to go) in pursuit of votes he'll rarely get, & demolishes his core policy agenda of growth, making his re-election more unlikely. Even those (inc. me) willing to cut him a lot of slack feel betrayed. A truly awful day for UK.

Masks work. Lockdowns work. Vaccines work. Vaccines don’t cause autism. Ivermectin is for parasite-infested horses. Pass it on.
