The tuber is a source of much happiness. Mash made with butter, milk, either spring onions or chives, salt and pepper. Or Dauphinoise potatoes. Proper thick chips, fries. Mmmmm. Or crushed potatoes sprinkled with a variety of herbs and spices and baked in the oven. I can feel the weight piling on.

I was standing in our garden one day when a car stopped outside our house and a woman got out to ask directions. She spoke slowly to ensure I understood her (because I looked foreign) and then looked expectantly at me. I thought to myself 'WTF?' I answered in fluent English which shocked her. Idiot.
