Why is the time of people driving cars prioritized over the time of people outside of cars? Once again, beg buttons at crosswalks are a total scourge. Always have been, always will be.

Relying on mechanical lifts or elevators rather than ramps to provide accessible paths of travel is a sure sign of short-term thinking. Anything with moving parts will inevitably break down and stop working at some point.

CAL FIRE is running the single-stair work group right now (osfm.fire.ca.gov/what-we-do/c...). We had a meeting today. It’s a great effort, but there’s no money in it – when somebody wants something modeled, they have to ask for a favor. Seems more worthy of promotion and resources than an AI chatbot

Regular reminder that beg buttons at crosswalks are a damn scourge.

How has the governor of this state (California) remained silent on SB 79 so far? One would expect he’d be putting the weight of the Executive behind this legislative action. 1/

This seems important: youtu.be/k7AzHDaTHHo?...

In some "good" fiscal news, the City of Los Angeles is sitting on $150 million in collected but unallocated park fees. Maybe we should build some parks with this money

2 very important things to fix for crosswalks: 1) beg buttons (drivers never have to get out of their cars and press a button to make the light turn green, but walkers often have to go out of their way and wait an extra several minutes, even when the light is green for cars)

While it would have been great if we had planted that tree almost a decade ago, we currently have the chance to plant a one. If you live in California, call your state senator to make sure this seedling (SB 79) survives!

NIMBYism is a natural human impulse. People generally don’t like any changes to the place where they live. So if a mechanism for people to say no to any changes to their environment, of course they’re going to use it. Completely predictable.

Periodic reminder that if SB 827 had passed EIGHT YEARS AGO, that your rent would be lower, that California wouldn’t have as many forced to live on the streets, that we wouldn’t be losing as much representation in DC, that our climate trajectory would be better, etc, etc, etc.

Trump spent the entire campaign saying that tariffs are the “most beautiful” thing ever. Why doesn’t he want Amazon to show them off?
