Paid family and medical leave is so crucial to child well-being.

This was so fun to record. Kudos to Monee, Meredith, and Caroline!

“You have been sent here by the public to keep the public trust” - LeVar Burton advocating for continued funding of public television before congress

School-based therapists & other mental professionals allow for earlier diagnosis & treatment, which ⬇️ absenteeism, ⬇️ #mentalhealth #hospitalizations & improve child health outcomes while yielding societal cost savings. Loss of these services will be devastating for many communities.

🤒 #Measlesin US now >1,000 🚨 1st measles cases in N. Dakota since 2011; all UNvaccinated 🔴 3 cases linked to 1st case of unvaccinated child likely infected by out-of-state visitor 🔴 Other 5 cases did NOT have contact w/ the 1st 4. Expect more cases in next few days. www.hhs.nd.gov/immunization...

Leaving residency is not the issue here. It’s not the right path for everyone. The problem is the disbelief of the settled of #vaccines & their effectiveness & lack of qualifications for the role of Surgeon General.

🏥 Truly amazing. We should do this instead of cutting #Medicaid

“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.” It costs a lot less to house people.

More of this, please.

A child in Bologna was comatose after being hit by a 🚘. The resulting uproar served as a catalyst for positive change. Gun violence in 🇺🇸 has yet to lead to similar meaningful action.

#MedStudents Get 40% off the Sanford Guide to Pediatric Acute Care app www.sanfordguide.com/student-disc... #Pediatrics

Important read on this administration’s adverse impact on child health and well-being.

While I appreciate the engagement, would love to have constructive dialogue & advocacy so we can avoid this site devolving into the 🐦 app.

🤧Impressive RCT in terms of scale & implications for practice. Saline nasal spray, 2 squirts per nostril 6x daily ➡️ ~20% shorter URI duration & missed work vs usual care & ⬇️ antibiotic use @lancetrespirmed.bsky.social www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...

Is this what that one dentist is saying? Because I know the other 4 definitely supported the fluoride!

1/ #Measles is back. #Trust the pediatricians. 🧵 Measles was declared eliminated in the U.S. in 2000 thanks to the MMR vaccine. It's back b/c too many children remain unvaccinated. #AmericanAcademyOfPediatrics continues to be one of the most important voices for child health. Interesting story...

Workers who track data on car crashes, drownings, traumatic brain injury, falls in the elderly, and other perils lost their jobs. Advocates worry life-saving work will stop.

Worthwhile read by @susandominus.bsky.social on research on happiness & the importance of human connection. Connection was the driving force for “On Healing & Humanity,” the new article type in @jhospmedicine.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/2025/05/01/m...

Narcan is an important medication to prevent opioid deaths. Federal support is essential and, unfortunately, now at risk.

💉Virtually no physician or nurse completing training in past quarter century has seen Haemophilus Influenzae type b #Hib. I hope we don’t see a resurgence of this vaccine-preventable infection. Added it to the Sanford Guide to Pediatric Acute Care, just in case. @sanfordguide.bsky.social

“Talk to your pediatrician” would be much, much better advice.

So many of my littlest patients have benefited from Head Start. Speech delayed children who start speaking after early intervention. Access to nutrition. Childcare that allows parents to work. Head Start is a lifeline- pediatricians can attest to the immense benefits for kids because we’ve seen it.

The overall MMR vaccination rate of 92.7% means that many areas of the country are below the ~94% threshold needed for #measles herd immunity, hence the continuation of the outbreak in TX and its spread to nearby states. Infants too young to receive MMR are *needlessly* placed at risk. @who.int

🤒 800 #measles cases across 25 🇺🇸 states as of April 2025 🔴 93% linked to outbreaks 🔴 82% of cases in TX, NM & OK 🔴 96% unvaxxed or unknown vax status 💉 MMR #vaccination coverage in children decreased from 95.2% in 2019-2020 to 92.7% in 2023-2024 🌎 Information from WHO www.who.int/emergencies/...

Deaths from heart disease down 75%, that’s NIH. Deaths from stroke down 75%, that’s NIH. HIV/AIDS no longer a death sentence, that’s NIH. 99% of FDA approved drugs in the last decade, that’s NIH. Please show this video to anyone who doesn’t understand why the NIH is so important.

Probably best to hold nutritional supplements to this same standard.
