Idea: First person tomorrow to claim that aligning food safety rules to make it easier to trade food products between the EU and UK should be given a pop quiz on the following acronyms: SPS, CHED, BCP, IPAFFS, and BTOM

Some folk are preemptively getting upset about UK possibly breaching its WTO obligations to accommodate the US. And y’know, it might! But it also might be able to legally justify it … at least to the same extent everyone else has done previously. mostfavourednation.substack.com/p/most-favou...

From UK perspective it looks like this deal takes the edge of some existing tariffs (cars, steel) & provides a framework to get a better ride on future (pharma), and it doesn’t appear to have given up very much in return. Also doesn’t appear to cut across EU negotiations (as expected).

Slightly unclear, but probably actually 12.5%

So we’ve learned that the floor for car tariffs is 10%

publish. the. deal.

Wonder if we’re going hear the phrase “non-market economy” a lot later today

Up early to celebrate the imminent UK tariff relief the only way I know how

Kicking off in 5 …

Remembered just in time that Parliament’s security folk do not like it when you have a [gym locker] padlock in your bag.

Today has been a bad day for people who don't like seeing me on their TV screens.

Until the rules of origin annex is published, I'm not interested.

The UK already has reciprocal agreements for social security contributions with quite a few countries, btw … www.gov.uk/government/p...
