"I know where I wanna go and I wanna take as many people as I possibly can." #jimcarrey www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2Ro...

Thought this might be of interest: Offering residencies to artists to advance their artistic practice through the use of the Newberry collection. www.newberry.org/research/art...

My new inspiration #KofiAgorsor... from Ghana. Kofi has  a unique manner of distorting shapes, going against perspectives and discarding proportions. Like African dance, each part of the body moves abiding by its own rhythm, with a grandeur and an importance that has nothing to do with reality.

I've been bingeing on The Cabin Chronicles... actually thinking, "I could do this...Me and hubby do nothing in the middle of nowhere, in nature, so very simply (each item has a story), in a cabin. Here's to staying inspired through the last part of this year. #thecabinchronicles

So you tell yourself, “This time, I’m going to listen. Be careful! Don’t just GIVE your ideas!” Next thing you know, half way into the conversation, you’ve done talked MUCH and passionately. You’ve done shared your enthusiasm and there’s no taking it back. You’ve exposed yourself.

Love when I KNOW it's time to put the script down. No longer searching for the "perfect" story. I gave it my best. Checked in with my trusted few. And now it's time to wait for the next step. Whether it's new eyes... or actors in a room, giving voice to the words... Allowing something NEW to occur.

The shitty first draft is written. Now I can focus on the Giving Thanks menu! And... it's actually not that shitty. The draft. It's actual way better than I thought. Hmm... maybe a whiskey sour is in my future. lol.

Collaboration. Sometimes collaboration can be sorely overrated. People not pulling their weight. And you ask yourself why? Fear? Something is better than nothing. And then you find a partner. And there is mutual respect. And they love you. And you feel you are learning. And there is much to give.

My beautiful friend Vivian Sessoms. How hard we artists work!? She shows up with her brilliant self (here at Good Times in Savannah, GA), looking gorgeous, sings her ass off while directing her band. Age and experience teach you how to walk into a room and hold your own. Just sayin'!

Second draft of "Amma's Wit", a Sloan/EST commission about the erasure of granny midwives, finished. Did a reading with a stellar cast. Always such a blessing to hear the words OUT LOUD. Thank you, ladies for breathing life into text. The magic of storytelling!
