My mother sent me a New Jersey care package. Luckily the laundry and tan notes are much more pronounced than the gym ones.

I'm at a wedding for one of my students and I think this might be the first time the phrase "internal reference frame" has been used in a wedding vow.

Its finals weel and I went into an unused lab room to watch trash TV while I grade and students just started coming in and sitting down and studying and asking me things. Next time I silently grade in a dark room.

This government is going to ensure that the NSF follows its mission to "to foster scientific progress, improve national health and prosperity, and safeguard our nation’s security" by...checks notes...ending programs that help ALL AMERICANS participate in STEM. 😠🤮 www.nsf.gov/edu/updates/...

We want to know!

They’re making sure to get the Vatican national anthem some spins here because they know there’s no way any of the Cardinals are winning the 110m hurdles at the Olympics

TIL the Vatican had a marching band and I didn't expect the popening to sound line a small town USA July 4th parade.

Proof that it's not all in my head and, yes, I probably take on too much.

For those in the physics (and STEM) education sphere, one of my favorite FREE resources had it's funding cancelled by the NSF because this government hates 1) education and 2) equity and access to educational resources. Consider donating to sustain PhET! I just did! phet.colorado.edu

Now this is the type of cultural indoctrination in our schools that I can get behind.

Using a super fun Funsize Physics breakdown of the physics of twisting Oreos to talk about effective STEM communication. @scitalker.bsky.social funsizephysics.com/plot-twist-t...

It's grading time, necessitating the use of the Units stamp.

Going to have to see what Health and Safety thinks about the new addition to the Physics Study Lounge.

Me as soon as my talk is done at a conference. Credit to @elysegraham.bsky.social for using this as a quote in her book and to Goethe, I guess.

Reflecting on this trip, I really am inspired by a lot of the conversation about the convergence of science and the humanities. But my proudest moment was being told I was recommended for the event because I am a known "talkative scientist."

The Roundtable "The Two Cultures Natural Sciences and Humanities, Convergent Paths?" begins!

Casual encounters of science plus the Brno Dragon!

During two days of dialog with some amazing archeologist, art historians, and even an archeogeneticist (!), I've realized how much of my approach to teaching and thinking about physics is informed by my own education in the humanities and I feel like a humanities person that does physics!

Spending two days in a medieval studies library in Czechia, talking about science and the humanities. This is one of the more surreal things I've been invited to do so far in my career!

April 1st is one of my favorite STEM days each year because it's when April Fools papers come out on the archive. While I am not sure what can beat my favorite, the Soup-Salad-Sandwich phase diagram, there are some solid ones you can find collected here: www.reddit.com/r/Physics/co...

My own personal ASMR spa with fresh smooth and shiny rocks straight from the tumbler.

#APSSummit25 swag haul!

My first March Meeting in 2009. I met a guy playing guitar in the hall. He was writing a song for the Singalong. I made cue cards and joined the performance. #APSSummit25

This is what all us cool kids are doing tonight. #APSSummit25

Spend my evening at the Funsize Physics Hackathon putting together a draft post on a simple way to make thin films. Interested in writing about your own science for the site? Ask me how!

Join the Funsize Physics crew at the Hilton lobby bar! #APSSummit25

Interested in communicating your own science of tiny stuff to the public? Want some science toys? Come to the Funsize Physics meet up at the Hilton lobby bar! We'll be there from 6 to 8 tonight. #APSSummit25 funsizephysics.com

Forgot to advertise my own talk that's happening soon! My colleague and I are talking about computation in our department's curriculum at the gigantic Platinum Ballroom 5 and 6 at the Marriott at 11:57. Come watch us on the fancy stage! #APSSummit25

Coming from someone who finds AI to be a black box, William Ratcliffe in ACC 155 is doing a great job showing how it can be a useful tool to inform experimental studies I am getting convinced that maybe I shouldn't be as skeptical with AI as I thought! #APSSummit25

Super excited that this post started by students for a physics communication class has made it all the way to Funsize Physics! Thanks @scitalker.bsky.social for making it happen! funsizephysics.com/polymers-at-...

So much excitement at #APSSummit25 today that I skipped lunch. Super thankful for these awesome Quantum Design cookies...and for the new VersaLab we are getting soon!

Love the term "torture disco" used by Rachel Merrit jn the Physics Education of Labs session to describe how solar cells are stressed, resulting in colorful light shows. #APSSummit25

I made this! My background is in thin films so this was actually my first time doing powder diffraction for research and it was so fun to get into. #APSSummit25

I did a science. Come see a project I've been working on with an awesome collaborator at ACC 262A! #APSSummit25

My amazing colleague @katycosmiq.bsky.social gave a great talk on galactic fossils! Also, her amazing graphic designs make my slides for tomorrow look awful. #APSSummit25

Really coming in to my Full Professor powers as I wear a free vendor swag shirt to the conference I got it at. To be fair, it's a pretty great Grand Theft Auto inspired design. #APSSummit25 Check out the ICEoxford booth and their cool quantim computer set ups, both lifesize and Lego!

Having a blast completing the Save The Cat quantum mission at #APSSummit25. This was my dad attempt at making an origamo bird for one of the tasks.

Nuclear War Simulator sounds like an it's video game, but it's a much more scary way to simulate the fallout everyone launching nuclear weapons at each other. Go science. #APSSummit25

Glad I got to the session on the history of the Manhattan Project and the Atomic Bomb early, because it's standing room only! #APSSummit25

Love that #APSSummit25 managed to manifest the perfect weather (and the perfect selfie set up) for a break outside. Also this is what I look like to internet people feel free to say hi.

Some of the CSUSB contingent on Monday morning after their talk! #APSSummit25
