The AI book list and general enshittification reminded me that I've been credited as blurbing hundreds of books I never have, including books by Patti Smith, Amy Tan, Sidney Sheldon, Joyce Maynard, and Elmore Leonard? And I can't get these fake blurbs taken off publisher and bookstore websites?

A whole lot of people really need to take the following to heart and act on it: "I do not have anything to hide. However, I do not have anything I wish to share." Don't buy something that feeds a corporation. They should pay you a substantial sum, or large subscription fee for the data collected.

This reminds me of a conversation I had a while back with another writer. He was telling me that he used Microsoft's Copilot (the same base tech as ChatGPT) to 'generate ideas' and find facts as starting points. When I told him that LLMs were really unreliable at finding facts, he AGREED. 1/
