Minorities, each in turn, learning the brutal lesson that tokens get spent.

For Copts in the U.S. and in Egypt this would be quite an outcome in light of the overwhelming support Trump has received from that community.

I swear nobody learned a single damn thing from Iraq amp.cnn.com/cnn/2025/06/...

This is the first image I jump to when folks say they home school their kids. I'm sure plenty of them do fine, but... I don't think people realize how important public school is for kids who suffer abuse. School is a safe haven to get out from under that thumb of authoritarianism and horror.

Context note: DOJ doesn’t turn over evidence to Congress if they have a viable investigation in the works.

Good to see that our country’s trade policies are grounded in solid economic principles and are not remotely subject to the fluttering whims of a mercurial leader. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/17/w...

NEW—After an innocent protester was shot and killed at the Salt Lake City No Kings protest by a “safety volunteer,” @utah50501.bsky.social says they hired team of them based on “military, first responder, other relevant de-escalation experience.” Volunteer who fired gun was a vet. Full statement:

Very cool a potential Nazi mass murderer had the same slogan written on his shotgun that our current Secretary of Defense has tattooed on him

Canada elected a policy wonk who knows what needs doing. Having an idiot thrashing about next door has certainly focused Canadian minds on.ft.com/442Xqzr "Canada is finally backing out of its corner"

Who’s really behind book bans? It’s not just concerned parents… 72% of book censorship efforts come from pressure groups and government officials. Only 16% come from parents, and 12% from others like teachers or library users. #FreedomToRead #StopBookBans #FactsMatter #LetBooksBe #ProtectLibraries

Ten years ago, it would have been inconceivable that a president would fail to divest from his businesses, much less that his business would continue to launch new products like a phone service during his presidency. This is yet another ethics outrage.

Javier Bardem went so hard on the genocide of Palestinians that the View had to cut to commercial break

An interesting and under-discussed NYC politics subplot in the Mamdani campaign and the attempt to sink Hanif in District 39 is the rise of South Asians as a political force in the city, and the backlash to it

🚨 There’s a lot of horrific news out of Washington right now—but you might have missed this: Senate Republicans just introduced a plan to sell off 120 million acres of our public lands. Let me break down what’s in the bill and why it’s a full-scale land grab. 🧵

Aaron Swartz was hounded to death for far, far less than this.

This is in part why NY State's old school incumbent Dems suck. They assume that the rules just don't apply to them.

“(On the very day the Times wrote that a vote for him would be a vote against public “disorder,” one journalist found Cuomo parked illegally in a Manhattan turn lane and another noted that he has been repeatedly ticketed in recent months for speeding in school zones.)”

New York City did not defund the police. This is not a thing that happened.

happy belated bloomsday everybody

This is an excellent point.

Framing every Jew who protests against Israel as “pro-Hamas,” as this “Jerusalem Post” editorial does, is a really intellectually dishonest thing to do! (www.jpost.com/opinion/arti...)

Mind blown. We did NOT learn about this in medical school. www.sciencealert.com/insulin-isnt...

Klein opens with declines in public support for trans rights but elides majority support for anti-discrimination. Basic civil rights framing fight but Dems negotiate with themselves and don’t do propaganda or dismantle the right’s noise machine.

i am glad that more people are catching on to the fact that mike lee is a total degenerate

🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️

This is an absolute betrayal of promises made by Congress to protect the people who protected American soldiers. A betrayal by people who think American greatness is based on half-assed military parades rather than being a credible ally to those that risked their lives for America.

saying that someone “no longer has any legal interests” because they’re dead is the sort of claim you might wanna run by a lawyer before publishing in The Atlantic

There’s really no imaginable reason for this other than spite

This is continued journalistic malpractice from the @startribune.com normalizing a violent white male suspect. He owned a private security company called Praetorian Guard, traveled overseas to preach against abortion and LGBTQ+ people, and attended a bible college that preaches "violent prayer."

Please read and share this statement from Sophie and Colin Hortman, children of Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark. (via WCCO reporter Caroline Cummings on X)

not gonna say i called it, but i definitely called it

All the "no forever wars" MAGA voters will turn on a dime to justify whatever war Trump wants. Like how GWB in 2000 ran a campaign eschewing war hawk language, as a rebuke to Clinton's foreign incursions. 9 months into Bush's presidency it was full war hawk mode, & his voters loved him for it.

The MN murderer attended "Christ for the Nations" college in Dallas. That institution was founded by a Cold War era white nationalist and Christian nationalist conspiracy-obsessed preacher named Gordon Lindsay. A thread on Lindsay. bsky.app/profile/seth...

I’m not worried about USAF tankers over the Atlantic. Not tracking pizza orders in NOVA, either. Back gate at Fort Bragg? Boring. I’m worried that Coinbase is going to start sponsoring Reza Pahlavi.
