I have a tough time fitting myself into a box here. Despite the terminally online puritans often thinking I’m a bootlicker (I think they think I work for a party or campaign, lol), i don’t fit neatly into one opinion. Primaries ARE good. I agree. But everyone must be bought in on the outcome.

When someone expresses genuine regret voting for Trump, the best thing we can do is welcome them into the fold. We're not gonna get anywhere with ridiculous gatekeeping and pettiness. Let's offer folks an off-ramp into the coalition of reasonable adults.

Doomscrolling checkpoint: look at this perfect baby 😍

Narrator: they both died on that hill

Please understand me when I say this: It is MORE IMPORTANT, not less, to listen to your lawyers and legal support right now if you are doing ANY kind of activism, direct action, or organizing work. It is MORE important. I'm really serious.

I went to my Congressman's local office today. First off, they were surprised that I was there. They said they had been getting phone calls, but I was the first walk-in. That said, the phones were not ringing off the hook. If the DC phone lines are busy, try calling the local office.

I see "anticipatory obedience" everywhere right now, and it's really key for us (also in Europe/worldwide) to plan ahead and be ready to resist, bc these trends seem to come with a few years lag after the US (think populist, fascist-friendly gov't takeovers): www.aaup.org/report/again...

If you’re a Democratic lawmaker wondering why so many of us are frustrated with your messaging and wondering what it is we want, check out Justin Trudeau’s response to Trump’s tariffs and please take notes.

Yeah, I’d like the same work schedule as Punxatawney Phil

Great post by @trekkiebill.bsky.social As someone growing up in Ireland in the 90s, Star Trek showed me the diversity that I didn't see in my everyday life. A world where everyone was equal is normal in #StarTrek - it felt right to me too. Thank you to Trek for opening my eyes to a wider world

This is what the government did with 120K+ Japanese Americans in 1942. I know. I was there in those camps.

You're gonna need a cat on your timeline, I think.

Not "legal niceties." What they are doing is illegal! www.nytimes.com/2025/01/30/u...

Most Americans are going to get a gigantic wake-up call about how many services they actually receive from the federal government, which depend on a fully functioning workforce that doesn't have to spend its days worrying that a bunch of malevolent assholes are going to fire them.

I actually wish the media would stop using "DEI" and "diversity hiring" and just get to the essence of the thing and ask: "Are you saying that this crash was caused by desegregating the races?" And see what happens.

It is time to stop worrying about losing friends and family who vote differently than you do with and start worrying more about the people who are being dragged out of their homes to be put into camps, denied access to life-saving medical care, and losing their jobs for believing in human rights.

Theory bite! This is probably something that cis people would find useful, as much or more than trans people, because a lot of cis people participate in it in conversations about transness and trans folks ;3

if not hell, why hell-shaped

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent. Opportunities are everywhere. Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

This is my favorite picture of Stonewall. They knew they were getting arrested just for being LGBTQ+. Yet... they're still here, standing outside of the boarded up Stonewall Inn, smiling as the world was at a fever pitch of hatred against them. I think about it a lot in moments like this.

Wow. Caroline Kennedy breaks her silence on RFK Jr in a message to Senators: “We grew up together. It’s no surprise that he keeps birds of prey as pets because Bobby himself is a predator. He enjoyed showing off by putting baby chickens & mice in a blender to feed to his hawks.”

Thanks to George Conway for posting Caroline Kennedy's letter so everyone is informed about RFK Jr. Please repost far and wide.

Right out of the gate they are detaining U.S. citizens and saying their “papers”are fake. It was always a lie.

I wrote this on one of the darkest days of my life. It gave me an anchor to hold onto.

A team in Exeter has developed a finger-prick test to classify long Covid into three types: weak antibody response, excess immune response, and unclear patterns. Early results suggest it could guide tailored treatments, but larger trials are needed. www.bbc.com/news/article...

This is an excellent thread with links to a bevy of articles that might give some perspective on our current political climate.

With so much abject capitulation to Trump by rich, scared men, it’s affirming and a high honor to highlight when women have stood up firmly against him this week. My write-up on three such women: https://buff.ly/4avog60

Trump has deployed active military to help round up migrants and put them into detention camps. The military forced us out of our homes at gunpoint in 1942 because we were considered possibly disloyal Americans. They sent us to internment camps for four years. History is repeating. Pay attention.
