Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

This is awesome, I knew that JBG was on the Voyager records but hadn’t seen this letter.

One cool thing about Arenal Observatory Lodge was that Great Curassows were walking around the grounds quite frequently. Costa Rica 🇨🇷 April 2025. #birds #CostaRica #Arenal

New in PN: The Republican budget is an attack on the economy "As a moral document, the Republican budget is an abomination, delivering largesse to the most comfortable and cruelty to the most vulnerable. As an economic plan, it could hardly be dumber."

Ok, that made me laugh.😂

Yes! Support your local degenerates! 🎨

I need to ask myself this more often and act accordingly.

Cynthia got some amazing shots with just her Moto phone and the guide’s spotting scope, here’s one- a young Boat-billed Heron. Ecocentro Danaus, Costa Rica, April 2025. #birds #CostaRica

Holy shit! Looks like another bad summer for air quality, this is likely the new normal. #wildfires #climatechange

I’ve been thinking a lot about Bella lately, it’s been 2 years since we lost her and the house is too quiet without a great bounding, shedding beast constantly at our feet. #dogs #germanshepherd

A nice view from an overlook in the foothills near Macaw Lodge, looking west over the Gulf of Nicoya to the peninsula of the same name. We saw some great birds that day and Michael is a fantastic guide. #CostaRica #MacawLodge

The afternoon sun was trying to shine through the clouds over Lake Arenal, we had quite a view from Arenal Observatory Lodge. Costa Rica, April 2025. #Arenal #CostaRica

After a long day of birding it’s time for cloud forest happy hour with a nice cold cerveza, my favorite Costa Rican lager is Bavaria Gold but they have a few microbrews down here now too. #CostaRica #Savegre

We caught a ride up to the quetzal nest and walked back down to the lodge following the Savegre River, a beautiful clear mountain stream. A magical place. San Gerardo de Dota, Costa Rica, May 2025. #CostaRica #cloudforest #Savegre

Our view at Savegre Lodge with the cloud forest all around, elevation 7000 feet. I love the cloud forest most of all, a part of me will always be there with the Quetzals. #cloudforest #CostaRica #Savegre

On my last morning in the cloud forest I walked up a steep rocky road alone and saw this Black Guan. A male Resplendent Quetzal flew over me but was too fast for a photo. Savegre Lodge, Costa Rica 🇨🇷 May 2005 #birds #cloudforest

I finally finished comparing my life list with the current IOC world master list spreadsheet and triple checking my field notes again I now have 742 species of birds! Wow! Only 11,000 or so more to go lol 😆 When I started keeping track 30 years or so ago I never thought I’d see this many.

This Montezuma Oropendola is looking to get some of the abundant fruit put out by the staff of Selva Verde Lodge. Sarapiqui, Costa Rica 🇨🇷 2025. #birds #CostaRica

I rarely get a picture of my lifers but this Mottled Owl was roosting for the day in a large stand of bamboo right in the middle of the huge garden at Hotel Bougainvillea. One of my 61 new lifers on the trip. #birds #owls #CostaRica 🇨🇷

Arenal volcano was usually shrouded in clouds the two days we were there but I did get a picture of the summit. April 2025. #Arenal #CostaRica #volcano

The Hotel Bougainvillea near San Jose was the bookend to the trip, they have a wonderful tropical garden with residents like this beautiful Lesson’s Motmot showing off their blue crown. May 2025 #birds #CostaRica #motmot

Happy Birthday to master storyteller Sir David Attenborough! 🎉 We’ve loved working with Sir David as he delivered the narration to the upcoming immersive experience, Our Story with David Attenborough. Tickets go on sale in just two weeks. Keep an eye out for the announcement!

I love it!

After rechecking my field notes (old school FTW) I actually saw 61 new species of birds on our Costa Rica trip, so new life list total: 737. #birds #lifelist #CostaRica 🇨🇷

My rough count is 54 new species of birds, but I need to double check everything and sometimes common names can differ so I have to go to the Latin to be sure. #birds #CostaRica Pura Vida! 🇨🇷

We are back from Costa Rica!🇨🇷 what an amazing trip! Photos and details to come over the next few days. Pura Vida!

Ok see y’all in a couple weeks, Pura Vida!

Breast cancer diagnoses rose by over 300% between 1973 and 1992. Was there a breast cancer epidemic?! NO. Mammograms were implemented for screening in 1976. PREVALENCE is a function of being able to correctly diagnose something. This is also about autism.

While the gospels say that Judas led the Romans to Jesus, a new theory is gaining traction with some Biblical scholars. There is evidence, some say, that Judas merely shared Christ's location on an insecure group chat that accidentally included several Roman officials and journalists.

I will be posting very little over the next couple weeks, we are going to Costa Rica and I won’t be doing any social media from my new clean travel phone but I hope to take lots of pictures to share when I return. Pura Vida! 🇨🇷
