Lucy has met with asteroid Donaldjohanson! What a shape! One end is smoother! #planetsci 🔭 science.nasa.gov/image-articl...

Amazing

Same nebula, different wavelengths. NGC 1514, the Crystal Ball Nebula, in visible light from Kitt Peak, and in mid-infrared light from JWST. The glowing dust rings seen in the infrared are absent in the visible light view. 🔭🧪 noirlab.edu/public/image... webbtelescope.org/contents/new...

It's hard to pick favorites from the Arp catalog of peculiar galaxies, but Arp 282 has to be near the top of my list. Arp 282 looks particularly 3D to me, something that is often lost in 2D images of interacting galaxies. 🔭🧪

The ionosphere is cool. But you know what is cooler? Well, we can use smartphones to measure the temporal and spatial variations in our ionosphere caused by solar activity. Made a little vid for @spaceaustralia.com Read the article here: www.spaceaustralia.com/news/your-sm... #SpaceAustralia 🔭☄️

Still can't believe I saw tihis with my own eyes last year ✨

How are we preparing for the launch of #NASARoman? Hear from three team members as they share what makes the Roman mission unique, how they’re preparing future users of the telescope data, and the importance of thermal vacuum testing: bit.ly/4iVm4rp 🔭 🧪

In #Astronomy, Spring is called "Galaxy Season." It's when more galaxies are visible than any other time in the year. But you'll need a 🔭 to see all but a few. In N hemisphere, you can see the Andromeda Galaxy. In the S, the two Magellanic Clouds. 1000s more can be seen with #Astrophotography!

It's #PortfiolioDay! I'm Neil. I design and make jewellery for the brand Montgomery-Ramsay. We also do custom work, and all our brand pieces are available in 18k or platinum if you'd prefer. You can find our luxury sterling line here: montgomeryramsay.com

Hey, it’s PIXL! A look at the PIXL sensor using MastCam-Z on Sol 1467. PIXL is a x-ray fluorescence spectrometer located on the rover’s arm turret. flic.kr/p/2qWpkxQ

Beautiful! 🐡🔭

Channeling my anxiety about being a visa holder in the US into posting more #Hubble & #JWST images. So how about them auroras on Neptune?! Credit: NASA, ESA, CSA, STScI, H. Hammel/H. Melin/L. Fletcher/S. Milam

Earth. Photographed by the crew of Apollo 14 on the return leg in February 1971. Apollo image AS14-76-10349, 70 mm Hasselblad, 80 mm focal length, Magazine O, with minor processing by me.

The team at ESA mission control has initiated Gaia's final manoeuvre. The spacecraft is now moving away from the second Lagrange point to prevent it interfering with any current or future missions near this scientifically valuable point in space.

#NASAWebb provides high-resolution details of Herbig-Haro 49/50—an outflow from a nearby still-forming star and background galaxies. Webb reveals the fuzzy object at the tip of the outflow in the Spitzer image is actually a distant spiral galaxy: webbtelescope.pub/4iGQg9K 🔭 🧪

Venus from the moon 🤯

This is what Firefly's Blue Ghost lander saw as the Sun set on Sunday. The Sun is the bright lightsource at the horizon. At top is Earth (you can't quite tell it's gibbous). And that bright star between the two is Venus. I have never seen a photo of Venus from the surface of the Moon before.

🤣

ESA's Euclid casually mapped 26 million galaxies in one week. No big deal 🤷 🔭🧪 sciencesocks.co/blog...

@esa.int 404 page is the best thing I’ve found while being lost 🤣🔭

The first @esa.int Euclid data release is going live THIS WEEK - it's going to be awesome! I hope Euclid can be as transformational for extragalactic astronomy as Gaia has been for Milky Way astronomy!

Every week I’m going to share something that gives me joy. This week it’s that a little lander on the moon gave us pictures of a total *solar* eclipse while we marveled at a total *lunar* eclipse. Pretty sure that’s never happened before!
