#nzpol #Budget2025

wait what??? how is a standard typography convention from donkeys years ago a millennial thing? My first supervisor in my prepress career was a typesetter by trade, you can bet your boots we used proper typography standards. (My social media editing skills clearly do not reflect my prepress era)

I really don't like the "just following orders" feel of how some political parties cast votes. I can sort of understand list MP making sense for nonconscious votes, but those who won an electorate should surely be representing that electorates views instead of towing the party line.

And THIS is what I replied 😈 #NZPol

TPB 300,000 submissions. That was just the warm-up Now it’s time to do what we do best Mobilise kōhanga Mobilise kura Mobilise marae. Mobilise communities, rangatahi, kaumātua, whānau They’ve declared their agenda. Let’s remind them who we are & our agenda ❤️🤍🖤 #NZPol @whaeadeb.bsky.social

Budget 25 is the Government looking at the consequences of the 2024 budget; rising unemployment, huge rise in Kiwis leaving the country, cuts to public services and saying "A tax incentive for business will solve this". Paid for by robbing low paid workers in the past, present and future. Vandalism.

This right here is what institutional bias looks like.

As the details of the budget keep emerging I keep getting angrier. Did you know that the brilliant Māoriland Film was honoured at Cannes Film Festival this week? The cuts to the Māori Trades Training Fund mean SIGNIFICANTLY less funds to employ, empower, and upskill rangatahi Māori film makers.

ACT are very sick! #nzpol

Big news for UK & NZ artists! DACS and Resale Royalties Aotearoa Toi Huarau have signed a reciprocal agreement, ensuring artists get paid when their works are resold internationally. https://f.mtr.cool/nlczpjfvsb

Delay. Distract. Damage. All in a day’s work for this government. So…no suspension. Yet. Because control delayed still feels like control. Because messing with Māori on Parliament time has become a national sport. Just without the haka. #TePātiMāori #NZPol

I should no longer be surprised

Didn't know about these! this sounds awesome

Nicola Willis keeps talking about sex based discrimination, and saying those claims can still be made, she's talking about pay equality instead of pay equity - they've completely moved the goal posts and stolen wages from many, many women #NZPol

Judith Collins blatant LIE that the haka prevented Act voting WILL have influenced public opinion. It’s a disgraceful lie; either she doesn’t understand the process herself or she did it deliberately . Either way she should clarify, apologise (and f*^# off herself…) #NZpol #Haka #Collins

I am sickened by our Primeminister, and the whole coalition he is ultimately responsible for. Blatant pretending he doesn't know when the uncut interview he personally did has been well discussed.

Love this

It's all just theatre and pandering to where they think votes are coming next :( Although I'd proportionate media coverage any better? It's hard to see politics as anything other than a game that destroys the lives of real people often simply because they can.

Useful short thread pointing out that literally none of the 3 potential explanations for why there needs to be a huge punishment for the TPM MPs' actions holds water.

This is the really hard bit

Yep the centrists not caring about anything not directly affecting them. Along with becoming easily offended if it is ever pointed out that fence sitting still favours the oppressor, to the point they would rather join them then accept the consequences of their own inactions.

While our Prime Minister normalises the use of 'Maorification' in a time of angst amongst our people, we have courageous leaders standing up for us and te tiriti. I'm so thankful for the bravery of @tepaatimaori.bsky.social and their MPs. Thank you ❤️ #nzpol www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...

It’s not māorification, the proper word is decolonisation, we’re restoring a more natural state #nzpol

Today is a very good day to keep in mind that what tells one about a person's (or political party's) measure of worth is what they do. Not what they say they believe in, but what they do when the rubber hits the road. What they do tells us what they value and we should believe them. #NZPOL

Have not caught up on whatever the latest inane trans bashing scheme is but I can sadly believe this :(

I mean…WHAT IS THE FUCKING POINT OF GOVERNMENT…if your goal is not to SERVE the entire society placed in your CARE? #nzpol

Sometimes I wish this was still only ever in the realm of fiction :(

As a typo queen; always remember to think how your file name sounds... but yeah spellcheck won't pick up the other unfortunate but hilarious typos.

I'm gonna use that quiz for applications to be my best friend

You know that great RNZ article from RNZ’s The House NZers are sharing? It’s still a strong indictment of Collins, but some of it has been watered down. I just happened to have had the old version up when I opened the ‘updated’ one, thinking it was a new story.

Media can not be considered impartial by any stretch.

What the! How's is this allowed to go on

In bigger than me news, check out this evidence as it hits.

Adjacent point to my PhD talk. My non academic partner is currently redundant, so many times now in the last 15 years I no longer keep track. It is again why we are cautious to tie income to a finite path. It's definitely a different world to the "career for life" pathway sold to us in high school.
