Max Verstappen isn’t in Miami yet, he’s been at home due to the birth of his first child. Will be here for Friday. Totally understand buying as much time as possible. Best wishes to him and Kelly Piquet. The juggling act of being a new father and an F1 driver begins! www.the-race.com/formula-1/ma...

George Russell just told us in the pen that McLaren is so fast they can afford to switch focus to 2026 now with an advantage like this. Says the order and margins are as expected. Reckons it’s “all tyres” and they are doing “something pretty special” - look at final sector margin.

I’ve been quickly won over by Gabriel Bortoleto off-track early in his #F1 career and he made a very strong impression again today dealing with a Helmut Marko appraisal of him: www.the-race.com/formula-1/ga...

Australia for the #F1 season opener just feels right. Here is an early video for The Race Members’ Club (90% off your first month at the moment) answering a bumper batch of questions we’ve had already: www.patreon.com/posts/we-ans...

Good week in Bahrain. Pleasure and a privilege to see #F1 this up close and try to turn that access and opportunity into worthwhile insight. Next stop: Australia!

Early trackside impressions not to be read into too much beyond building an initial reference point for the week. I liked how the Red Bull looked, strong front end, especially being on a harder compound. Hamilton experimenting a little in the Ferrari, which looked good but not quite as consistent.

Good to be back. #F1

The new Red Bull looks just like the old Red Bull. And not in a normal 'evolution not revolution' kind of way. "It looks very similar," the team admits. But will that be the case by Australia - or even the end of the week? www.the-race.com/formula-1/sh...

I’ve left food for Mrs Mitchell-Malm and our son, I’m on my way to Bahrain, and I’m rejoicing at having an empty seat next to me on the plane. Must mean #F1 is back! What do you want to know from testing?

Lewis Hamilton knew he needed a change. But after arriving at Ferrari he realised just how much he needed it. Now he says he's revitalised - and F1 rivals think this could turn into a title challenge: www.the-race.com/formula-1/le...

What did you think of the F1 75 season launch event? www.the-race.com/formula-1/f1...

Big change coming for the Monaco Grand Prix. F1 rulemakers have discussed having Monaco-specific regulations and it’s been agreed that the number of mandatory pitstops will be increased for that race only. More details to come in the next few weeks.

Carlos Sainz hits the track in the 2025 Williams FW47 #F1 car

Some shots of the actual Williams FW47 now, in its one-off shakedown livery, from the launch live stream.

An early look at the one-off Williams livery showcasing new title sponsor Atlassian although that's on an older car. The 2025 car will be revealed shortly. You can hear it in the background of the launch stream warming up ready for its shakedown.

McLaren’s dropped the first #F1 car reveal of 2025 with a special camouflage livery for a Silverstone shakedown. Clever getaround as the real liveries have to be saved for next week’s F1 75 event with all 10 teams. Williams is doing the same tomorrow - one-off livery on its actual 2025 car.

A low-profile McLaren genius has signed a multi-year contract extension. This is proof the team is finally maximising someone it actually re-hired more than a decade ago. Piece here: www.the-race.com/formula-1/mc...

Williams has a new #F1 title sponsor, technology partner and collaboration software partner in Atlassian. It’s called “the biggest partnership deal” in Williams’s history. Team will officially be entered as Atlassian Williams Racing. James Vowles says it will help modernise team’s way of working.

As a marker for the irrelevance of the laptimes, though it remains an amusing detail to include, after an equal number of 74 laps each today Leclerc was 1.8s faster than Hamilton. Pirelli even notes itself the times “have no real significance given the different work programmes” they carried out!

Zhou Guanyu and Antonio Giovinazzi are Ferrari’s official #F1 reserve drivers for 2025. Bumps Dino Beganovic down the list. I still wouldn’t be surprised if Ollie Bearman steps in for Ferrari though, should Lewis Hamilton or Charles Leclerc be unavailable. Then Zhou/Giovinazzi could go in at Haas.

According to Pirelli, Hamilton set a slightly faster lap time than Leclerc (1m15.930s to 1m16.060s) - Norris more than seven tenths faster, such data largely meaningless. The programme focused on slicks with various combinations of construction and compound tested at the hardest end of the range.
