Producing a simulacrum of human thought is a key phrase here, and the crux of the AI push. It is grounded in production (not creation) and simulacra, that is, the appearance of something real but not something real because the tech industry embraces, even celebrates, replica over origin.

People who call the police on kids littering or making noise on campus do not deserve to be in charge of kids. And look, I got ticketed for malicious mischief when I went on campus after hours to TP my high school (a homecoming tradition). *That* was a fair cop.

Cowardly rat-bastards wearing masks kidnapped several people leaving church this morning here in sleepy Plymouth, MA. Those taken are working people like you and me who contribute to our communities. It can happen anywhere. Empathy and compassion were once a part of what made America great.

Demanding that "intent" be held over "behavior" is not how any kind of cultural norms are developed and enforced. Apologize (or not) and restate using the preferred term. The latter is the most important. If you *try* you will be given grace. If you *cry*, then fuck your face.

Some wag brought up “tragedy of the commons” and fellow Scott offered up an excellent article on Elenor Ostrom’s work showing that commons are not predestined to be tragic. Since I have been involved in the digital commons for decades, I’m familiar with her work and this is a great introduction.

This is a super-fun YA story by a super cool friend. From the first sentence in the *prologue*, I was hooked. It’s got swords, magic, found family, and some kissing. I’m usually not drawn in by imagery, but I found the descriptions of locations, sounds, and *smells* compelling. Highly recommend!
