Just letting unread messages from various opt-in subscriptions and vendors I've failed to mark as spam (just in case the next email has the end-all-be-all coupon, I guess) grow like kudzu over my Gmail accounts as a pre-summer treat.

I love dashes so much that I can get around writer's block just by reminding myself that I'll be able to em it up all I want. (OK, not really, but it's a nice thought.) When dummies start suggesting that using the en dash correctly is an AI tell is when I'll get *really* mad.

Did a thing yesterday (my 12th Hospital Hill and 20th half-marathon).

Love the uniquely 21st-century indignity of cutting my own auto insurance "card" out of a tissue-thin piece of printer paper after almost 40 years of same-company patronage.

Have been pretty content to boycott the past couple of months, and this is good encouragement to stay away longer.

If my head were as full of antimatter as Douthat's, I would object to this dipshit headline. Said fullness would also, I hope, prevent me from being seen to wear these enormous, rube-ifying headphones.

Someone on my Goodreads timeline posted an appreciation of Henry Felsen's teen classic Hot Rod, and it turns out the man looked like if Daniel Craig played Mr. Roper.

As has been widely and correctly noted, this is heinous and infuriating. I just want to add that Banks looks quite wee but also seems to have a weird wide butt.

Sadly, Savant is the platform/software, not the descriptor — however appropriate — of Salvy’s plate technique.

Wish I could like this post 100 times.

Me most places: It is vital that no one see my middle-aged body. Me on or near an ocean beach: Fuck it, I am Hemingway, no shirt.

No one "left" the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau "for dead." It was murdered.

Imaginary constituents are great because they don't leave voice mails or send emails or go demonstrate anywhere.
