Judge Murphy is giving real Judge Anderson-Colyer v. Skeffington vibes here. Anderson, a judge in MA 100 years ago, wrote of deportation proceedings then: “A more lawless proceeding it is hard for anyone to conceive. I can hardly sit on the bench as an American citizen & restrain my indignation.”
