Turns out there is something worse than staring at the blank page.

Wandering into the local shops to buy a console on launch day like it's NBD. That's the regional town lifestyle.

A huge part of the AI crisis for our culture is that society decided productivity and efficiency were our highest universal goals. The idea of doing everything faster (regardless of qualitative outcomes) seems patently obvious if they're your only objectives in life.

Wife points out it has been six months of not having the correct dosage of HRT available. It's an issue everywhere. As she puts it "I wonder what would have been done if it was viagra?"

Well the website is very broken but at least the words still exist. This thing I wrote about Endgame as it was releasing back in 2019 still holds up. It was crazy that it happened and nothing like it will happen again. goat.com.au/avengers-end...

We're so big we can't ask permission. We're so big we can't prevent abuse. We're so big we can't screen for frauds and scams. We're so big we can't be held accountable. I don't think 'industry' is the right word for what these arguments protect.

What gets measured gets mangled.

Feels like the designs for an agentic web serve the commercial interests of large platforms that want to enhance their gravity, with no solutions for how to distribute remuneration to the owners of the content and services that orbit them. Quelle surprise?

This decision was also made without consulting the two Indigenous groups whose land hosts the facility. Watt flew in and flew out without meeting with them.

I’ve been a paying Pocket user so this sucks hard. It’s simple, it’s elegant, and the team offers curated links to interesting stories I missed elsewhere. Deciding this project isn’t worthy of your time when your core mission is to help people enjoy the web is so disappointing, Mozilla.

I like my current glasses frames so I got another the same for my glasses when at my desk. Now I'm constantly confused over whether I am wearing my desk glasses or my walking around glasses...

Not sure how any more serious leaders agree to sit in front of media inside the White House for the next three years. You are suddenly an NPC on someone else's TV show.

By now, it should be clear to arts and academic bodies that News Corp publications do not act in good faith. If given the customary PR pre-briefing of an announcement, they will exploit their knowledge to attack the recipients. We don't want an Auatralia where public funding is vetted by News.

I am incredibly proud to announce EDITIONS - our better, different answer to physical games. A preservation and design focused imprint that redefines what a physical game is. All details at the link - shaking with pride right now. This is my life's work. ❤️

Went back to Marvel Snap for a bit. Still fun. But pricing has gone nuts!! Want to catch up after being away? ONE CARD costs $30 minimum worth of token bux. That’s not even a fancy current season card. You can still free play, but if you got off the treadmill there’s no comfortable catch up path.

Thinking about AI as a shield from being vulnerable about our own work. Text and images, people seem to like the idea they can claim credit if it’s good enough but blame AI if it’s bad. I wonder if it’s because that feels safer than being told work we generate ourselves isn’t good enough.

Every time I see a cool story about a sheep farmer doing a deal with a solar farm and they live together in harmony (and the wool is BETTER because of the extra shade) I wonder what the hell the Nationals are doing.

Anyone got a quick answer or a link to what this all means for the Queensland LNP within the Coalition?

This Red Gum Smoked Salt is incredible. It’s all Smokey bacon vibes without the meat. Do yourself a favour. (I am friends with Alex Olsson but this is not a promo it’s a damn public service announcement.)

DMRC postdoc, @vilkins.bsky.social. spoke with @cameronwilson.bsky.social from @crikey.com.au last week about archiving electoral content and the role of social media in this process. Check it out! 🗳️

I've been really struggling with this. It's one thing if they were 'brainstorming' for some thoughts and got nothing useful. I'm sure that's a common theme of doing that with an LLM. It's a whole other thing when they think the vague response is highly intelligent and worthy of discussing in public.

here's why Ariel and I decided to write CONSPIRACY NATION pre-order now: http://bio.to/conspi...

Can anyone step up to fill Tatum’s absence? Literally not even a little bit. Might as well leave a Tatum sized hole in the scoreboard.
