This is what I’d be saying if I was definitely sure it was going to be a confidence vote

No matter how often I see this data, I always find it shocking. Of all the massive growth in output produced by the world's workers since 1980, more than half of it has been captured by the richest 1%. This is what happens when capital controls production.

NANCY PELOSI: We must find the next generation of Democratic leadership. Young, charismatic and exciting candidates who can energize the party. People that voters love because they're not 80 years old and sold out to big capital. CHUCK SCHUMER (behind sniper rifle): Found one PELOSI: Take the shot

I'm not the first to say so, but it has been so repulsive and alienating to watch gentiles call people antisemites to advance their own political ends.

The flammability of historic buildings that are the subject of longstanding contentious planning disputes is really worryingly high. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

This new strain of “I went to London. I saw some social problems that were the predictable cause of not spending enough on the safety net and on infrastructure. I decided it was the fault of immigrants. Also, London is finished but also too expensive” talk, among other things, is just loser talk.

Nigel Farage has announced a Robin Hood Tax in which billionaires could pay a one off fee of £250,000 and then never pay tax again on their £800,000,000 a year average income. The Robbing You Tax would cost you £37bn a year.

Banana republic stuff here IMO

23-06-1848 FRANCE: Out of 120,000 workers made redundant by the National Workshops, 20,000 take to the streets. They form up to 400 barricades.

23-06-1848 FRANCE: 4 days of deadly fighting begin in the working-class districts of Paris. Rifles, bayonets, cannons, incendiary bombs ... 11,662 arrests, up to 10,000 dead. The workers' movement is beheaded. The 3rd Republic was born.

Good to see @neweconomics.bsky.social analysis referenced by @johnharris1969.bsky.social. Rising disability benefit claims are being driven by an intersection of higher rates of disability & financial insecurity among disabled people - cuts will exacerbate both www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Sad But True

Amazing. NYT has more confirmation that Trump's decision to bomb Iran was motivated in large part by the way the Israeli strikes were "playing" on Fox News, which drove him to want credit for it

Public services are stretched beyond breaking point not because weird, destructive ideological cranks like this person and her colleagues have got their way over and over for decades on end, but because you - the British public - are worthless shiftless swine www.thetimes.com/article/71a5...

In case you can't tell what just happened, JK Rowling instructed her followers to take photos of anyone in a women's restroom who doesn't match their idea of Western feminine beauty standards. Short hair? Thick cheekbones/jaw? Too tall or broad-shouldered? You're now "a man" and will be harassed.

BREAKING: Home Secretary Yvette Cooper wants to ban Palestine Action as a terrorist group. This decision will need to come before Parliament, and the House of Commons and House of Lords must debate and approve it. It will be open to legal challenge.

Whilst we’re dunking on Streeting for his “let’s gene test all babies” folly, let’s not forget the rest of his imminent 10yr NHS plan. Heavy on corporate GP firms, tech gimmicks, & help for firms keen to treat the lucrative “worried well”, v light on *treating actual sick patients*. 👇

This from Keir Starmer is a de facto endorsement of Trump's illegal aggression against Iran. Talk of Starmer's deep commitment to international law belongs in the same garbage can as talk of Trump's deep aversion to foreign military entanglements www.bbc.com/news/article...

Iran was negotiating in formal talks when Israel attacked them and killed their negotiator. Why would anyone, anywhere on earth, now show any restraint? America has shown they are madmen who cannot be deterred, restrained by no laws or even basic decency, and that violence is their best option.

‘Iran posed no imminent threat’, US Senator says - https://www.middleeasteye.net/live-blog/live-blog-update/iran-posed-no-imminent-threat-us-senator-says

Peaceful protestors declared terrorists within 24 hours, Kneecap dragged into court in 3 weeks for waving a flag. It's amazing how fast the establishment can act when it wants to. The Water Companies mass sewage dumping, Grenfell, the Post Office scandal. Nothing happens, ever

Check out what counts as conclusive proof of extremism at this point, then consider what *does not* count as extreme views. Roaring support for a regime whose soldiers are shooting starving civilians by the hundred? Fine. Saying the Irish prank band shouldn’t be jailed? Terrorism.

Doctors and survivors of the Hell on Earth that is Gaza under an ongoing genocide took time to document their lives for the BBC, and the BBC just decided to censor their documentary ‘due to impartiality concerns.’

This is very interesting considering I have seen some of their buddies wearing a t-shirt supporting a terrorist group that assassinated the prime minister of Israel

PANAMA: Goverment declares emergency over banana region unrest www.bbc.com/news/article...

This is true. And as social values survey after social values survey shows, if anything the electorate are becoming more tolerant, more ecologically aware, and more (soft) left.

The BBC & Telegraph are trailing Wes Streeting’s technophile health plans, including genomic mapping at birth. Is this really gonna transform the NHS into a prevention service within 10 yrs, as Wes claims? For v rare genetic conditions, praps. But for the real burden of disease? Thoughts, #medsky?

Dumber than 2003.

🚨BREAKING: We’re deeply concerned at the use of counter terrorism powers to target protest groups. This is the latest in a succession of measures taken by the UK government to clamp down on protest in the UK.

I note that between Palestine Action and this twerp, only one of them has extreme views about e.g. the level of massive violence that can and should be used against entire civilian populations.

Hard to imagine, but Louisiana now has decided to define natural gas as clean energy.

Nigel Farage got £750,000 from Coutts as compensation for nothing. Even worse Coutts is owned by NatWest which is 39% owned by you. So YOU paid Nigel Farage £292,750, for whining because he didn't have enough money for an account. RT if he needs to repay every penny.

So many genuine problems facing the UK - neither the government nor individuals have enough money, poor public services, threats from hostile foreign powers. That parts of the right obssess about "too many brown people in London" speaks volumes about their lack of solutions to the real problems.

Israeli forces continue property demolitions in Tulkarm, occupied West Bank - https://www.middleeasteye.net/live-blog/live-blog-update/israeli-forces-continue-property-demolitions-tulkarm-occupied-west-bank

Only 30% of pall care is NHS funded. Given today's vote, will Keir Starmer at least commit to dramatically increasing palliative care provision so that patients don't "choose" to end their lives because we, society, fail to give them the care that might make life worth living?

It's simply not coincidental that this government is pursuing both assisted dying (without any guardrails to protect people with disabilities), and historic cuts to disabled living support simultaneously.

Horrendous.
