I'm being forced to learn React at work. By the bits that bind our ports, could anything be more poorly designed than hooks? Who was the trust-fund kid at Facebook who thought hooks being dependent on dynamic scope was something they should release?

Have any of you noticed this phenomenon? Namely, I'm finding older media--mostly music and movies, but occasionally some TV shows--more enjoyable than modern releases, even when those old releases were something I didn't enjoy in their original run.

I made Tea for @mamcbeth.bsky.social today. Caprese salad; Cucumber/goat cheese/onion jam, chicken salad, and lobster salad sandwiches, cut into planets, stars, and rocket ships; mini brownies, cinnamon rolls, and petits fores. The boys actually ate most of it.

Fuck me, now they want to do Tailwind CSS. Reading the documentation, they bring up, "why not just use inline styles" like it was ever meant to be serious and not a rhetorical question to suggest the very pattern is broken, completely side step it and say, "you can't do :hover inline".

Saw one car with a bumper sticker reading "Of course my driving sucks, have you tried driving with crab claws?" Parked very near a car with a license plate that was basically "ZOIDBERG" and it's a shame these weren't the same vehicle.
