Reactionaries hate universities because they create open-minded liberated people open.substack.com/pub/iandunt/...

"Just one more thing, Mr Farage, you want to lift the child benefit cap so people can have more kids. But I thought we were full?"

There's no placating the Brexiters, no reasoning with them, no basic comprehension or adulthood. You can't debate papers behaving like the Sun or the Mail this morning. There's nothing to debate with. They view all trading relations with Europe as humiliation.

UK-EU deal is a 'sell-out', says Tory Party whose Brexit cost the UK well over £100 billion and several percentage points off GDP. They can absolutely piss off.

We have a chance to improve our relationship + trading terms with the EU, give musicians + young people more freedom and make travel easier… And Brexiters are howling about betrayal, fish, ‘holding all the cards’ and immigration. Same lies. Same prejudice. And same failure if we don’t ignore them.

The government has been busy making new laws. Lots of them. Across rail, education, planning, environment, housing... But most people have not noticed. So, here’s a very handy roundup of progress/changes, including a full list of those new laws and which ones have already had royal assent. 👇

Keir Starmer’s in TIME’s 100 Most Influential People of 2025 - leading with facts, stability, and purpose. Meanwhile, Farage is still shouting on GB News, selling snake oil and rewriting his Brexit disaster. One leads a country. The other leads with lies. #ukpolitics

The brutal arrogance of Tory MP Burghart shows he believes bluster can replace substance. #ukpolitics

💥💥💥 Our latest huge poll just landed in The Observer, & shows its trade with Europe that Brits want HMG to prioritise at the reset, over defence, tackling small boats, & certainly before trade with 🇺🇸 #tomorrowspaperstoday 👇

Feels almost cruel to point out that all the bollocks about our 10% tariffs being a 'Brexit benefit' lasted for about four days. But here we are...

Excellent work by Everyone Hates Elon 👏🏻

So now we have new 25% Trump tariffs on cars from overseas and I'll remind us all again, if we were in a deep goods alignment arrangement with the EU, it would wipe out the negative impact of this entirely, and grow GDP by 1.5% Insanity not to prioritise EU. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Reminder of what a shitshow British journalism is.

Coming on top of the bullying of Zelensky, I think Vance's remarks today are going to be a pivotal moment in uniting British public opinion against Trump's US, across party & Brexit divides, & solidifying consensus for UK as a partner with EU for Ukraine. www.thesun.co.uk/news/politic... 1/2

Love it.

JD Vance is currently claiming that his obnoxious comments about France & the UK planning to put 20,000 peacekeeping troops on the ground in Ukraine had, wait for it, nothing to do with France & the UK. Doublespeak, dipshit or both?

More of this, please.

I haven’t said much this evening, because I think I don’t need to say much. Hopefully, now people understand what I meant about leaders offering real solidarity, rather than just displaying it on social media like a badge. Nanight

Don’t let the fashmongers ever forget the company they keep.

Absolutely @deborahmeaden.bsky.social 👏

Another mad element of that press conference is that Trump & Vance were ordering Zelensky to thank them personally for aid that Joe Biden had provided. All while insulting Biden & ignoring Zelensky’s frequent previous expressions of gratitude.

Well done Starmer! 👏 👏 #SlavaUkraini

BREAKING: Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived at Downing Street for a meeting with Keir Starmer

UK right wing media DESPERATELY trying to turn the Starmer-Trump meeting into some sort of diplomatic incident over Ukraine/Chagos/Tates/Brexit/Tariffs and Trump giving them ZERO SUGAR, is one of the funniest/most infuriating things I've ever seen. Directly trying to undermine national interest. 👏🏽

It is obvious but worth repeating that regimes built on lies survive only as long as they can suppress truth. The promotion of complicit media (alternative facts) & denigration of objective media (facts) is not just desirable but essential. This process is being turbo-charged in the USA right now.

As our growth report by Frontier Economics showed, the UK and EU pursuing deep beneficls alignment will eliminate entirely the negative impact of tariffs on the UK and reduce them by a third on the EU. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Thought for the Day…

Reposting as Sagan is so prescient from 30 years ago.

Why are those who are so obviously benefitting from the status quo so angry about it? There has never been a better time to be a rich white guy. These maniacs are sitting on 20, shouting ‘twist.’
