Waking up to the headlines this morning of the GOP bill that guts the social safety net to give tax breaks to billionaires, and then reading about the murder of two Jews at the American Jewish Committee in DC, is basically just a capstone of the trauma that it is to be an American right now. 🧵

Here's me calling Congressman Nick LaLota to say #handsoff Medicaid! Use these district-specific fact sheets to provide details on Medicaid where you live, and make your call! www.medicaidmattersny.org/federal-issues

We've been fighting for funding for child care assistance programs and funding for the child care workforce. New York is a wealthy state. Everyone deserves affordable child care and the educators caring for kids deserve a living wage.

This is really unfair to everyone who just voted for him for the racism.

It was an honor to join so many amazing people at one of several #handsoff rallies in Suffolk County! Let's keep showing up, speaking out, and standing up for justice together!

This is how it's done! Columbia University, take note. You could learn a thing or two from public schools. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/04/u...

Proud to stand with parents and early childhood educators to call on leaders to #FundChildCareNY. www.instagram.com/reel/DH65qZ6...

Proud to speak about protecting children and families at the People's Town Hall in Suffolk County yesterday!

Not much to see. Just me holding up a giant inflatable baby.

Lawmakers, child care providers, parents, advocates, kids, and a giant inflatable baby assembled in the Capitol yesterday to plead with @govkathyhochulny.bsky.social @leaderasc.bsky.social @speakercarlheastie.bsky.social to #FundChildCareNY spectrumlocalnews.com/nys/central-...

I don't know about you, but I'm thinking that this is a lot to go through for cheaper eggs. It's almost like it was never about eggs at all.

When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.

I answer the critically important question, "HOW DO WE SLOW DOWN TRUMP?" Here are 7 meaningful things we can do to fight back. There's no quick fix, but with collective efforts, we can make progress. And yes, it requires Dem Leadership to Wake the ---- UP. www.qasimrashid.com/p/magas-7-de...

Louder, Martin. So the Democratic Party can hear you.

If Senate Dems were serious about getting under @leezeldin.bsky.social 's skin, they should have called me for tips. No one worked harder to hold him accountable in NY-01 than me.

There is no path to universal child care that doesn't justly compensate the child care workforce.

I've had some restless nights this past week as the inauguration looms. I've felt frustrated seeing the capitulation from local elected Democrats. And it's made me think a lot about what I want to devote my energy toward. 🧵

Today the presidential election will be certified for Donald Trump. There will not be an insurrection, because the seditionists are happy with the results. Today will look like business as usual, but we shouldn't forget the violence four years ago. 🧵

Incredibly disturbing to see this attempt to curb free speech in my county. Even more disturbing that legislators in both parties supported this with a unanimous vote. This is not what democracy looks like.

It feels difficult to muster that New Year's energy leaving a difficult 2024 and entering what is going to be an even more difficult 2025. I'm sad about the shape we're in as a nation and of the state of the world. I'm very worried about what lies ahead. 🧵

#MerryChristmas and #HappyChanukah to all who are celebrating! I hope the holiday is filled with joy and abundance.

Virtually every question today at the WH Press briefing was about the Hunter pardon, as if that is the thing the American people care about most right now. The DC press is so disconnected from the American public and serves them poorly more often than not.

"Softening the Democratic platform to appeal to suburban moderates is a dead-end strategy." Louder, so the LI Dems can hear you! www.nytimes.com/2024/12/05/o...
