"Masked security forces captured an opposition leader in the coastal province of New Jersey as regime officials continue their months-long crack-down against pro-democracy elements in the embattled United States. The arrest comes as the regime issued calls for summary detentions without trial."

Who forgot both water AND sunscreen for her 17 mile bike ride today? I am a most unpleasant shade of pink right now.

It isn't that America lacks courage. It's that we’ve become so cut off from one another that many of us feel alone, which makes us feel afraid. But when we are surrounded by courageous people, all of us become more courageous.  Courage is contagious.

And then this is how it's going to go. Merely advocating for the most basic of civil rights for a disappeared person is enough for these goons to call you a terrorist, which then gives them the right to disappear *you*.

So we're here now, apparently.

Trans people belong. Trans people belong in schools, in gyms, in shops and banks. Trans people belong in government. Trans people belong in sports. Trans people deserve to live their lives the same as I do, afforded the same care and consideration I do. Stand up. Get loud. Right now.

Today was the first day it really felt like spring here in Boston. Celebrated with a long 'lunch break' to go out on my bike. Did NOT want to come back to my desk.

It takes a lot to make me not want to pay my taxes, for a million reasons. It is deep, deep irony that THIS year is the year that we have to write a fucking enormous check to the feds, thanks to a banner employment year. I am SEETHING with fury.

The reason I have been unwaveringly NeverTrump from the beginning is it’s always been obvious to me that Trump is a bad person whose personal values are fundamentally at odds with the values of American liberal democracy. Not a flawed person, as we all are. But a bad person.

I didn't take any pictures, but went to the Boston rally today, Despite chilly rain, the turnout was immense, but that was pretty much expected. What I'm really loving is the pictures from the small places, some deep in red states, with crowds that are larger than expected.

For fuck's sake. Was having an ok day, and then I skimmed the news, and I am just so tired.

This lil sweater pattern is so much fun.

Historians of white supremacy passing the flame to historians of the Great Depression in the world's saddest Olympic torch relay.

"Age verification" laws are actually "upload your ID or get your face scanned to access every website, ending anonymity and associating your identity with everything you do online" laws and if more people understood that they would not be down for this authoritarian nonsense

So fucking impressed by Cory Booker today. That's the kind of leadership we need.

Hi. If you're against trans folk being able to live their best, rich and full lives with all the rights and protections everyone else has then you can fuck right off and block me as you go, because I sure as shit have zero use for you, you feckless waste.

Finished the cable sweater that was seriously 10 years in the making, cleansing my palette with some spinning and a sweet quick little baby surprise jacket for a soon to arrive little friend. #spinning #knitting

Love working on sweater seaming, it's like magic. And it means the sweater is almost finished!

This thread is a ride, and well worth clicking through to read the whoooole thing.

Celebrated the time change yesterday by going on a nice easy hike with some friends. It was SO good to get outside after the freezing cold winter we've had.

One of the keys to an effective boycott is that even thinking twice or reducing business when it’s easy and convenient can be a big hit to the subject’s bottom line.

The media is now obsessed with remorseful Trump voters, white voters, who are now losing their jobs or upset about inflation. I don’t want to hear from them. I want to hear from the Black voters who stood in line for hours, only to be turned away because their name was purged from the rolls.

I just finished Goddess of Anarchy, a biography of Lucy Parsons, I'm halfway through Blindness by José Saramago and just started Who I've Always Been by Theresa Okokon

This weekend is our library's yarn sale fundraiser. My haul from last night cost me $56 - and it's a doozy, includes 6 sets of my favorite no-longer-made nylon circular needles, more than one yarn that's no longer being made AND I got to support our library branch. All around win.

Everything is a dumpster fire, but I've all but the kitchnering-finished the current desk socks. Next up is some cheerful Spicy Watermelon from @sassyblackyarns.bsky.social #knitting
