Bought a pair of (physical) books- unlikely I’ll ever have chance to use them but… Well, maybe it’s time to be prepared in case. In a number of ways.

I am imploring you to see this escalation of criminalization against personal protective equipment for the immense threat that it is, especially for mutual aid participants, especially for chronically ill & disabled folks (not mutually exclusive). How can you help? Normalize masks, wear respirators.

BREAKING: Judge Breyer orders Trump to return control of the National Guard back to California, saying the call-up was illegal. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Noem may lack formal military authority, but with material backing from the armed forces, combined with this rhetoric evoking Putin, the US looks to be in the midst of a kind of grey-zone conflict that’s already progressed beyond what you could reasonably call a soft civil war.

There really are weeks where decades happen huh

More Americans voted for Senator Alex Padilla than for 48 of the 53 red state GOP U.S. Senators combined.

I just did this. You can too. Tell them that after what's happened to Padilla, they need to deny unanimous consent and use every other tool to shut the Senate down. Find your senators at reps.fyi

A few key points: - Senator Padilla is the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, and Border Safety - He identified himself as a Senator - Right before this happened Noem literally said she was there to liberate Los Angeles from its elected leadership

In case you weren't aware, the greater LA metropolitan area is the size of Portugal and contains 80% more people. They cannot constitutionally do this, but also, they cannot physically do this.

Any of the many times the shouting about non-violence starts peaking I end up thinking about this a lot. [Alt text: Civil Rights activist Kwame Ture speaking into a microphone, saying 'In order for non-violence to work, your opponent must have a conscience. The United States has none, has none.']

she literally held a press conference to say she is using the U.S. military to overthrow the government of Los Angeles!!!! either California treats her as a mortal enemy or California is not a sovereign entity!

Padilla: If this is how DHS responds to a senator with a question you can only imagine what they're doing to farm workers, to cooks, to day laborers out in the Los Angeles community and throughout California.

If the federal government is decreeing an end to self governance, an end to both state and local authority, then where are we? What is left to be said and done?

Sitting US Senator Alex Padilla forcibly wrestled to the ground and arrested by the FBI for attempting to ask a question of DHS secretary Kristin Noem.

STARTING NOW:

Important that this "interruption" came after the secretary had literally declared war on Californians' right to self governance

This video from Senator Padilla's staff, shared to Twitter by Fox LA's Elex Michaelson, shows Padilla forced to the ground by men wearing FBI uniforms who then handcuff him behind his back. This is after he is forcibly removed from the Noem press conference for asking a question.

Senator Padilla is forcibly shoved out of Kristi Noem's press briefing: "I'm Senator Alex Padilla. I have questions for the Secretary"

She is describing overthrowing the elected government in favor of someone she likes better. She is describing a coup.

I told you we’d be back

The state is able to wield its resources and surveillance to quickly track down and arrest protestors who threw rocks or set cars on fire But won’t lift a finger to remove cops who shot journalists and citizens point blank, or stop repeats Really makes you think

Boy I tell you hwat, takin’ an antihistamine before bed sure makes it easy to sleep in in the mornin’!!

Every year I grow more radicalized Every year I think “this is it, I can grow no more radical” And then the next year more radical it is

A little more on RFK's new vaccine committee: Malone - claimed vaccines cause AIDS Kulldorff - promoted mass COVID infection Meissner - opposed vaccines and masks for kids Pebsworth - worked at antivax nonprofit Levi - FL Surgeon General cited his paper when recommending not to get COVID vax

still the truest thing I’ve ever posted

This is the part that jumps out to me — developers cannot do good work under these conditions. You get a series of exhausted compromises, and exhausted workers.

Let’s Be Clear: The Rioting In LA Is By The Cops, Not The Protestors I already wrote about the GOP’s bloodthirsty desire to use the military on Americans. They manufactured a nonsense “crisis” by over-aggressively sending in ICE agents to grab people off the streets, leading to protests, which…

Feels kinda important to point out that if non-citizens are required to carry proof of legal status, then citizens do too by default. This is absolutely insane.

I genuinely don’t know how else to explain Americans seeing the federal government invade California and turn around to say “Gosh I hope those protesters stop being violent” other than a completely and totally brainwashed society

Find your closest rally on Saturday and go. You can tell your kids where you were on the other side of this. Outnumber him everywhere. www.nokings.org#map

Did it! I need to get a 16kg & 24kg kettlebell and start moving up! (35 and 53lbs!)

Kettlebell time!

All the people I still know in LA laugh and laugh when they hear that "Los Angeles is burning." I made a couple of maps to show just how tiny and localized the protests are. GOPers are working really hard to make an excuse for declaring martial law. People should be very wary of that.

I hate the "the protests are small! they're overreacting!" framing! even if the protests were as big or bigger than they were in 2020, it still wouldn't justify the occupation of a city by troops!!!

The disparity btwn what’s actually happening in Los Angeles and the way it’s being mischaracterized is one of the biggest stress tests of modern media in recent memory. Botted socials, AI, old clips, declining literacy—it’s like seeing a broken emergency response system hit by a storm.

In other news it’s absolutely gorgeous out in LA

It's bad reporting. Plain and simple. So many articles open with "Property Damaged!!!" "Force Used!" "Cops Attacked!" and you have to wait until half-way through the article to hear why the protests are happening in the first place. Really shoddy sensationalist, pro-authoritarian journalism.

For a lighthearted interlude: Let’s fucking goooooooo
