I write comics and RPGs, I review RPGs for Who Dares Rolls and talk about Star Trek in the Casual Trek podcast. I like sharks and the X-Men, especially Cyclops. He/Him #CasualTrek #StarTrek #DailyXMen

Okay, fine, today I’ll find out why everyone’s so mad about Doctor Who (this time).

Happy TFTQ Update Day to all who celebrate.

I’m back home with my beloved. Expo was fun, but there’s always a sense of joy about returning to Brighton. It was nice to chat with folks, sad to have missed some interviews. Next up, recording Casual Trek and then a lot of Expo-based writing. #UKGE

The sudden realisation yesterday that I still have books from last UK Games Expo that I haven’t read. I will try not to doom the new ones to the same fate. #UKGE

UK Games Expo Streetpass hits! #UKGE

I walked into the Expo past this Midsummer Murders looking scene yesterday. This feels like it needs to be the intro to a Brindlewood Bay mystery. #UKGE

My expectations were through the roof when I heard @grahamwalmsley.bsky.social was making a sequel to Cthulhu Dark. I’ve now run Cosmic Dark a couple of times and am pleased to tell you that it does indeed rule. Here’s how: whodaresrolls.com/cosmic-dark-...

I attended a fun talk about folklore in TTRPGs and in general. @exstasisgames.bsky.social, @loottheroom.bsky.social, @voxparlour.bsky.social and @irny.bsky.social discussed whether folklore stops at cities, big cats, beautifully inconsistent stories, bone fires and more.

I heard the audible relief when someone sat down and was so envious of it. #UKGE

Something I adore about UK Games Expo is finding RPGs I’ve never heard of with some amazing pitches. @parablegames.bsky.social “Don’t Play This Game” and @1sickpuppystudio.bsky.social’s “Dimday_Red” made for some lovely surprises this morning. #UKGE

Such a shame I’ve not encountered this fundamentally unserious human being here at the Expo. As a man whose nonsense has touched me, my peers and even friends who backed his endlessly delayed project, I do feel it good to keep folks aware of who he is so they don’t collaborate with him.

War Rocket Ajax fans can probably guess what I thought this said when I took this character.

I’ve not stayed this close to the Expo before, it was nice seeing the place after dark and the pockets of people playing games through the evening. #UKGE

Time to post it again.

Giant-Size X-Men (Vol 3) Issue One is good fun. I’ve come to expect good stories from Lansing and Kelly. That said, I had to explain the format to my comic shop who were trying to order match each one-shot to previously-named AoA, House of M and so on, not realising it was a miniseries.

Do you think this hurts Mario when it happens? It looks like it’d be painful.

What’s the cover art that got you started in the TTRPG hobby? Here’s mine:

I’m reading Collision and Mike Carey’s brought back the Children of the Vault! Also Luz has been with the X-Men for an hour or two and already gets the assignment as far as messy drama goes. #DailyXMen.

"The products you love are tangibly worse. We're richer than ever, especially after all those layoffs. We're also building giant data centers that cost billions of dollars to force new and bad features into products you're already mad at, at the low cost of "the environment and every work of art."

I fell out with a lot of Peter David’s work, whether it was poorly-aged humour or his doubling down on some bad attitudes. That said, his work meant a lot to me growing up, his X-Factor and Captain Marvel runs were some of the first complete runs I collected and he wrote the only Trek novels I read.

I think I’m OK to post this now. Possible the proudest moment in my comic career so far - I got to work on a Caverns of Khafka story with the legendary @andylanning.bsky.social! And Andy got the amazing Anna Readman to draw it! I was really pleased with how this turned out.

I can't imagine looking at this and feeling anything other than nausea and despair. It's an ad for voluntarily surrendering your humanity in exchange for a low-intensity jerkoff machine.

I’ve realised that while @milesreidlobatto.bsky.social picked a brilliantly awful topic for the next episode of Casual Trek, I’ll be the one covering two of them. One of which is Star Trek: The Next Generation’s “The Child”, so you can probably guess the topic.

So once they bring the x-men into the mcu and want to do tv shows with them — I have my pitch ready.

"The nature of forgeries, a subject on which I may boast of some small expertise, is to fool the least discerning, not the most; it is to convince the general public that true greatness never existed, that imitation is reality, that shoddiness is quality. It is an assault on pleasure itself."

I’ve been using “Hey It’s Skyshark” for my RPG page on Itch and figured it’s time to get a suitable logo for it and any comic work I do. The legendary @lanedraws.bsky.social drew this image and I love it!

You know what’s great? Getting art you’ve commissioned from an actual human.
