Man have I got a great use case for an unarmed (nonviolent/alternative) public safety response going on. Not calling the police because it’s just a person having a bad day, and I don’t want to open up any chance that it’ll be way, way worse. In no case would bringing a gun help in this situation.

I find it deeply creepy that these guys drive around the neighborhood taking massive amounts of video. The lack of accountability bugs me too. Fines are just fees a corporation.

Most questions on the candidate surveys from activist groups amount to ‘you must be this tall to ride.’ There’s a right answer (according to the authors). The game is to tell them what they want to hear as briefly and non-contentiously as possible without pissing anybody else off.

Land Use passed the Somernova zoning overlay out of committee last night with a recommendation to approve. It was some of the best civics I’ve listened to in a while. Careful, well informed, respectful, and attentive to detail. Made me nostalgic for simpler times.

There are good reasons to build skills bottom up - starting with basics and layering on ease of use, automation, and power tools once those are in place. Anything else leads to a brittle sort of knowledge. At worst, it breeds an arrogant, dangerous sort of ignorance. bsky.app/profile/oddl...
