GOOD NEWS - "Thank you to everyone who expressed their strong support for the Regional Climate Center program. Our funding has been restored by NOAA and the Department of Commerce." www.ncei.noaa.gov/regional/reg...

Good work everyone. Funding has been restored!!!

Today is the 78th anniversary of Oklahoma’s deadliest #tornado. This mural in downtown Woodward depicts this pivotal event in the town’s history. #okwx #WxSky

Stuck between a trough to the southwest and a ridge to the southeast, much of the Mid-South could receive 7 to 15 inches of precipitation in an atmospheric river event over the next five days 😬

This is not an exaggeration: illegally gutting this program will cause Americans to freeze to death in their homes.

Good morning. If you still have power in Ontario this morning, you're in the minority. Ice accretion amounts ranging from 1" to 1.5" has wreaked havoc on the trees here. Dundonald, Ontario #onstorm

18 U.S.C. § 793(f) makes it a federal crime to for people entrusted with information related to the national defense to, with gross negligence, disclose it to others in violation of that trust.

I know we always laud the SPC on big ticket days. But a day like yesterday should not go unnoticed. A somewhat sneaky tornado risk and damaging wind risk in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio, and their forecasts were stellar.

This is absolutely ridiculous and it’s going to be dangerous if we continue playing this game deep into spring and into Hurricane season. While there are ways to replicate a lot of this, the lack of quality upper air data at this growing scale will absolutely impact weather forecast accuracy.

You won't catch me calling him any title but convicted felon, and you won't catch me calling it any name other than Gulf of Mexico.

It's an interesting conundrum when you can't go out to measure sleet/snow accumulation yet because the lightning is too close... #thundersleet #thundersnow #thunderblizzard

Veterans are getting fired, and GOP Veterans in Congress say nothing. Musk’s DOGE is gutting their livelihoods, and they’re just letting it happen. VoteVets is fighting back. Ads, billboards, direct action—because if you’re silent, you’re complicit. MORE: www.dailykos.com/stories/2025...

So I've been doing this for 35 years, and I'm still always excited when I see something in the atmosphere that wows me. Seeing what looks on visible satellite to be pretty thick dust in IA on the northeast side of an intense low producing blizzard conditions nearby qualifies.

GOES-16 East showing a substantial dust plume on the doorstep of the Oklahoma City metro area #okwx

2 March windstorms...10 days apart. Last 24 hours ending 12z: - 977 reports of non t-storm wind gusts - 112 reports of non t-storm wind damage Peak gusts: - 95 mph near Organ, NM - 89 mph near Pine Springs, TX - 83 mph near Frederick, OK

So the atmosphere provided me quite the sendoff as today was my retirement day from NOAA. I am still passionate about the importance of our field and getting info out to the public, so I am starting Balanced Weather to try to further that mission. balancedweather.substack.com/p/welcome-to...

ICYMI: “Arlington National Cemetery has scrubbed information about prominent Black, Hispanic and female service members and topics such as the Civil War from its website”…in order “to remove all references to diversity, equity and inclusion from its online presence.”

A particularly accurate article per the dire consequences of a hobbled NOAA and NWS!

A horrible day yesterday in Oklahoma. Over 78 wildfires in Logan County ALONE! Scores more in several western, central & northeastern counties. Many homes & businesses destroyed. Humidity in single digits, sustained winds of 45-55 mph and peak gusts near 80 mph. Praying for firefighters & linemen!

This map is insane to me and it won’t ever NOT be insane to me. TUL hit a 68 mph NON-CONVECTIVE GUST, followed a couple of hours later by a 63 mph one. We couldn’t see downtown because of DUST. I issued RFWs, HWWs, SVRs and a freaking Flood Advisory. Historic man.

This is why I will always love and support the NWS 💪❤️

Another potentially significant tornado developing in the south St. Louis suburbs, this time likely to head toward Arnold/Imperial. #mowx

Good news for America.

Smells like good trouble.

Severe storms are gonna be a big story late in the week, but the wind/fire weather on the backside of this major low looks insane. Shown here are the Euro ensemble mean/median surface RH values and wind gusts at 7 pm Fri.

One of my companies informed me they cancelled a $2m conference in Florida. Why ? They didn’t feel they could pass on the incremental cost of tariffs. So they are cutting expenses. That’s a city that lost a ton of tourism revenue. The cost of tariffs isn’t just the cost of the tariff

🚨 This is important as this is some of the foundational weather data for initialization of all weather models, not just NOAA ones. In other words, even the ECMWF (Euro) models could see degraded performance over time if this becomes a regular issue. Very troubling stuff here.

On 6 June 1944, while Americans were fighting at Omaha Beach, Canadians were fighting at Juno Beach. Our brothers, who fought and died by our side – who helped us defeat Fascism, are not our enemy. They are our true friends. Canadians are our brothers and sisters and I stand with them 100%.

you’re fired. wait you’re rehired. email us a list of things you’ve done today wait forget it you’re fired again. come back your job was important. you’re fired. or hired. come in to the office. wait the office has no computers go home. we are the department of government efficiency.

It has a sample size of two thus far, but my intent each day is to showcase one of the thousands of excellent NOAA products issued regularly. Why? Because NOAA is a national treasure and I want to shout that from the rooftops.

Sen. Slotkin gets it: National security isn’t a game. Trump cozies up to Putin, trashes our allies, and weakens America on the world stage. That’s not “peace through strength”—it’s reckless. America’s safety depends on real leadership, not chaos.

What he said about Social Security payments has been repeatedly debunked - so the question isn’t whether he’s lying about this, the question is why. What is this a pretext for? He and the GOP have long shown interest in going after Social Security. What are they going to try?

(1/3) It needs repeating: in 1994, Ukraine was persuaded to give up its nuclear weapons to Russia in return for the US, the UK, and Russia guaranteeing Ukraine’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

Lindsey Graham is the definition of a weak, sniveling, gutless opportunist — an unprincipled political weather vane who grovels before power with embarrassing desperation. A hollow man with no convictions, no integrity, and no spine, shifting his loyalties whenever it serves his personal interests.

Good morning. Today will be one of the most active weather days coast-to-coast in recent memory. Would be very nice to have a fully-staffed National Weather Service. Give thanks to your preferred omnipotent entity for the meteorologists sacrificing their personal health to bring you the forecast

Crowds are massive in Silver Spring, Maryland…the home of NOAA. People chanting, “Save NOAA Now!” and “We will not weather the storm.” Make your voices heard and keep it up. #NOAA #NWS Severe Weather is on its Way. And so is hurricane season. 🌀 🧪
