In this moment I have admiration

I wonder what Adrian Pabst and John Milbank make of this

Ok, I’m writing about drama teaching, what I taught and how I taught it. If you’re interested, have a butcher’s: open.substack.com/pub/martinro...

I think it's a simple fact that if you think education has in any way improved over the last ten years, then Twitter has a major part in that. It was *the* prime forum for debate and exchange of ideas. Yes, there were excesses for sure (and I was guilty) but to me this is a historical fact.

Of course he does.

I thought I'd had this idea yonks ago.

i love this thread and i love derek guy and i don't care who knows it

On #WorldRefugeeDay we go back to the #FirstWorldWar. These ladies are the cleaners at St. John the Baptist Church in Dronfield. In November 1914 they cleaned and made habitable a house on Chesterfield Road to welcome Belgian refugees fleeing the German invasion. #PhotoFriday

Overall, I'm optimistic. But there is something I'm genuinely worried about. A lot of the improvements over the last 15 years were driven by front line teachers debating stuff on social media. That entire infrastructure and vibe appears not to exist anymore. So what happens next?

Farage and the far right in general come from a grievance culture. If you do what they want, even maximally – Brexit – they’ll move the goalposts and keep moaning. If you engage seriously with their concerns, they’ll find new ones. You will never satisfy them, because they don’t want to be satisfied

There may come a day when the BBC puts on air one of the other 29,999 headteachers currently estimated to be working in UK schools, but that day is not today

"Gulf of Mexico"

I still can't get past the idea that people in America are now supposed to accept that this is a valid form of law enforcement and just assume it's fine when random dudes in groups with face-coverings, no ID, no warrant, & no uniform grab people off the street and force them into unmarked vehicles

Thinking about theosis. Thinking that growth in God isn't about becoming more like God, as theosis might imply. Instead, I think it's about becoming more like God's creature. It's a greater conforming to who God created me to be, not my own merging into God. #theology

Thought I'd better check how it was looking outside before stepping out...

Silly Jon Stewart, the gays have had robot dogs since 1977.

This is the last thing the BBC needs

“Philosothon – a debate and philosophy competition, where different primary schools get together to work through some of the same philosophical questions first year undergraduates might struggle with” philosophersmag.com/a-marathon-f...

I’ve never seen an army passive aggressively parade before.

Amazing how the soldiers “marching” at Trump’s parade have captured the ennui and fatigue of war. It’s like watching the enactment of a Wilfred Owen poem.
