I love that nearly any time I go somewhere in LA I haven’t been to before I run into something I could not possibly have anticipated

You should also not Balatro and drive! But you can drive immediately after Balatroing

I expected to hear the Imperial March zero times while watching Coachella streams I have heard it three times so far Sign of the times?

If you say you were expecting to hear LL Cool J rap over the Imperial March at Coachella, you are lying.

Reposting because I still love this piece.

I'm posting about electrical work woes, but before I got into that I went to the only protest of any size I know of having happened in my small part of Los Angeles. Easily thousands. And that was before the big downtown turnout. The energy was amazing. Anger in a group can turn into joy.

I have a camper van whose electrical system is a byzantine nightmare. A while back I ditched its on board generator and ran an inverter to the transfer switch instead. Sometime last year the inverter detected a ground fault. Today, I found where it was.

Hard at work on CHODE Issue 2, a deep dive into Chris Rufo. Featuring a centerfold all about indirect costs and NIH grants

I finally added a profile pic that didn't reference an old social network I used to work for. @ktcubb.bsky.social and I had a fun little photo shoot, and even though my hair isn't colorful at the moment, her colorful work can reflect my love of a lack of monochrome

So it goes without saying, but let's say it anyway: the concentration of attacks on trans people isn't because trans people are the only people fascists hate (although they absolutely do hate them). It's because they're the people they think non-fascists are least likely to defend.

Judith Butler: "Once you decide that a single vulnerable minority can be sacrificed, you’re operating within a fascist logic, because that means there might be a second one you’re willing to sacrifice, and a third, a fourth, and then what happens?"

getting more into baking sweets probably doesn't align with our general health interests but it comes with having home made sweets so who am I to stand in the way of progress?

One of the greatest final battles of any game I’ve played in years. Also a mini game I got more obsessed with than gwent.

installed some community art at the corner of Sunset and Silver Lake Blvd today.

I've spent months getting to my desk every day and thinking "I should take my keyboard apart and clean it". So today, I did! Four year old keyboard back to nearly like new.

Everyone blasted the 90s Star Trek series for not having enough serialization, but it turns out life really is like that time Picard had a lifetime of memories installed in his brain, including seeing his family die, only to have to deal with time travel and Mark Twain in his very next mission

Noted without comment. Feel free to use this for presidential reaction posts.

Just a l'il thread of me making DeepSeek extremely uncomfortable.
