It’d been a Brass: Birmingham night. I love this so much. Every decision is tinged with regret. I regret every action I take. I can’t wait to suffer this misery again. In the next few years I really hope #boardgames swig. Back to this kind of interactiveness rather then more multiplayer solitaire.

Off to a mates for games. Great I think, he lives near a Waitrose, the only place I found that sold #glutenfree dry lentils…. An allergy update you say? Oh. Ok fellow #Coelaic people. Where is the UK can I get safe lentils again?

I made these really good #GlutenFree bread rolls yesterday. Recipe said made 20 but I did 16. I might try 12 next time as I prefer then bigger. The texture was really good and bounced like wheat bread. Recipe from GF Alchemist www.glutenfreealchemist.com/white-gluten...

Ugh. Just had my first spambot with ā€˜name and numbers’ account like a post. The profile linking to a ā€˜see my photo’ and a Russian URL. Please done let that be a thing here. It one reason I stopped with Twitter.

Finished as usual with Bomb Busters. We just opened the third box. I love how even this far in each mission feels fresh. #boardgames

Played Spyrium. Not played in a while. Genuinely one of all time favourite #boardgames. In 2013 this was considered a heavy game. Now it seemed a breeze. So much player interaction. Played in just over an hour. Made me think a lot about how bloated and multiplayer solo modern games have become.

Played more Tic Tac Trek. This was quickly become a favourite 5 min filler game when waiting for other friends to arrive. I really like when people take old childhood games and put modern spins on them. #boardgames

If your new to Letter Jam a little trick we learnt. Try to find a word that uses there letter more than once. Doubles are really useful. Here I’m given ?*P?C? Which looks impossible. Think if it’s probably a vowel or consonant then it becomes easier to solve. @czechgamesedition.bsky.social

Played Letter Jam. A game we are not GREEN at any more. Played almost exclusively two player. We have almost used up the note pad. It was only yesterday my friends finally said he finds it harder when he is guessing the first letter! #boardgames

#boardgames played yesterday. Started with Witchstone. Haven’t played this some while. Think I much prefered two player as it went a lot quicker. Very much my sort of quick game. Lots of actions, all short and fun action selection puzzle of actions getting more powerful.

I’ve now been learning #Italian for 11 months Today I can official describe my level as ā€œreceives emails asking me leave a review on Amazon Italiaā€. I think that’s a high A2 on CEFR?! ā€œPenso che Ć© era molto utile. Posso aprire la mia moka durante fa caffĆØ e vedere se Ć© pronta!ā€

Was #playtesting a barely half baked new game idea today. As expected it was awful. Came away with lots of idea of things that could be fun. When I first started game design I’d never put something so ā€˜unready’ infront of people. Now it would feel strange if I didn’t. Break your #boardgames early!

Finally trying #boardgames design again. This is the very first steps of soemthing. The usual pushing tokens around and seeing what clicks. We have an ad hoc #playtesting group tomorrow so going to try and take something that can be played. It doesn’t have to be good!

I took a good friend to do his second ever escape room. Took us 51 minutes this time after one spectacular delay of ā€˜failing to spot the obvious thing and making a puzzle much harder than it needed to be’ moment. Glad to be doing escape games again.

Spent a few days in Glasgow for the first time. It reminded me a lot of Leeds but with terrible pedestrian crossing. The take forever to go green, are green for a very short time and mostly make no noise! Today had a trip to find geocaches around Loch Lommand.

Just did my first Escape Room in a whopping 23 months. We did ā€œJourney to Atlantisā€ from Escape Hunt. I took a good friend for his first experience of this hobby. We found Atlantis in an an impressive 41 minutes. A good mix of puzzles that required two people to complete which I always enjoy.

How do you know someone is #coeliac? Becuase when they are visiting a city they will travel for an hour by bus just for a 100% #GlutenFree bakery. They even have a sign. I didn’t have to ask first!

Visiting Edinburgh and Glasgow for a few days. As we’re wandering ( and not using!) I think I’ve just seen the winner of ā€œmost unexpected people to name a strip club afterā€ award.

Played Founders of Teotihuacan. This was an interesting puzzle. Usually in a game you get resources and the spend them to build things. I’ve never seen the two share the same space causing lots of puzzling brain aches to solve. Look forward to playing again. #boardgames

Played Mandala Stones. I like abstract games and I enjoyed this one. Maybe a little to solitaire as I didn’t have the head space to think how my actions would affect the other player but there were several interesting and planning decisions to make. #boardgames

Last night #boardgames. I played Dragon Deck after having demos of lots of children’s games. This mix of drafting and ā€˜paper scissors stone’ was quite interesting. Very short (12 rounds drafting and up to 12 rounds playing) I quietly enjoyed playing it.

Brilliant to see an article about Ann from Cards or Die. She is one of the best ambassadors for the #boardgames hobby. She runs many events around the #Leeds area taking games to people and placed that might not normally fit the stereotype of 'gamer'. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Back home from #UKGE. Had a great time demoing Forks and a mix of play testing. Got to see lots of people and next year hope to have found more time for design and have prototypes. I did have interesting development on my existing #boardgames!

This years lessons learnt fro #UKGE. I saved a lot of food. I bought a mountain of fruits and oats. The hotel breakfast was huge. I don’t have time to queue at street van that might be coeliac safe. Please food vendors…. Put up a sign if you cater for allergies. Don’t say ā€œask usā€

I made it through day 2 of #UKGE. Ive been demoing a lot. Arranged a pitch meeting for a game tomorrow. Playing lots of Pictogether which is just brilliant.

I made it through day one of #UKGE. Spent much of the day demoing Forks for @markr8games.bsky.social which. I enjoy a lot. Then I spent time in @playtestuk.bsky.social area. Got to try to prototypes including one from @adaminwales.bsky.social who is was nice to see not on a YouTube screen.

Hotel breakfast time. They have gluten free muffins! I’ve _never_ seen that in a hotel before and my coelaic stomach feels very happy. They even cooked my breakfast separately in the kitchen so I didn’t have to share the self service area.

I made it through Day 0 of #UKGE and played many gloriously silly games with mostly strangers. Pictogether, Cheese Theif and That’s Not A Hat.

Finished setting up at #UKGE I will mostly be found on stand 3-607 demoing Forks for @markr8games.bsky.social I will also probably be in the @playtestuk.bsky.social area 2-108 with The Beeching Axe and wanting to play other people’s designs.
