I just met with legal counsel for my constituent, Dr. Badar Khan Suri. Dr. Suri is a global conflict scholar at Georgetown who was detained without explanation by masked agents outside his Arlington home, then disappeared without due process to a prison 1,300 miles from his wife and children. 1/

Just to be clear, this is a violation of the fundamental ethical principle in clinical trial design called "equipoise." Equipoise means that no-one is exposed to excess risk just to test the therapy. That's specifically *why* vaccine trials don't use placebo arms. Ethical violation as POLICY.

20 ARMED men bust into your home. They claim they’ve got a search warrant. They make you stand in the rain w/your 3 daughters in their underwear. They seize your phones, laptops, your cash life savings. The suspects listed on the warrant? They don’t live there anymore. kfor.com/news/local/w...

this grant program is literally to train FIRST RESPONDERS it isn't even just giving Narcan to individuals who use drugs he is saying that he doesn't want to help freaking paramedics carry Narcan, the people who would be called if a toddler ate a pill off the ground and accidentally OD'd

In the middle of a hepatitis outbreak, U.S. shutters the one CDC lab that could help www.npr.org/2025/04/16/n...

A physician in Texas saw patients and offered quack treatments while he himself was sick from measles. This is completely unethical.

RFK Jr. is an unprecedented threat to US health. He just completely eliminated the CDC lead poisoning group and all teams that respond to help address local radiological and nuclear threats and all capacity for natural disasters response. Mind numbing insanity. www.cbsnews.com/news/milwauk...

My God, the sheer cynicism of this. Forcing the poor and vulnerable to keep an account on your platform to receive the money that keeps them housed, fed, and alive. Digital serfdom

But Steve does keep trying his best...

Don’t worry - Mike told me he will vote against ANY cuts to benefits for Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. I really don’t think he would lie about something so important.

Musk fingerprints on this too—Twitter still has no comms team and responds to reporters with poop emojis. Notably, Twitter is not responsible for making sure the meds you get at the pharmacy are what the bottle says they are.

“Forgive me, mother. This is the path I chose, mother, to help people,” he cries, his voice weak.

One thing that I'm learning about this authoritarian moment is that it forces us all to be amateur psychologists: "What is he thinking? What is his motivation?" It's the posture of an abused child trying to anticipate how to avoid the next blow -- and I hate it.

Sadly, nonasthmatics often fail to understand how traumatic asthma attacks are. Even with modern medicine, it feels like dying, even if the meds make it look mild from the outside. Everytime, it's "is this the one that kills me? is it this time that the meds fail?" Withholding meds is torture.

I’ll never get over how softly media carried the insane bailouts WE paid to farmers to cover the catastrophe of his first term tariffs. It didn’t get emphasized in debates or in response to his campaign tariff threat.HE TRIED THIS ALREADY. We paid. Remember? From 2020. www.forbes.com/sites/stuart...

WOW. Rep. @jayapal.house.gov says CBP's internal affairs department found that a Chinese woman who had overstayed a visa was arrested by Border Patrol and hung herself in a cell. She wasn't found for two hours—even though the records reported multiple welfare checks (suggesting records falsified?).

Really infuriates me when I see articles framing the current entertainment production slowdown as not having “recovered” from the WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes when the actual problem is every studio took years to contend with streaming and then went all in on the wrong solution at the same time.

truly bizarre thread of ChatGPT getting into a weird state where it deletes history and lies about it—a natural language search engine is theoretically useful, but one that pretends it has feelings to gaslight you, not so much

This is, in large part, pandemic revenge. As far as these oligarchs are concerned, all science does is tell them stuff they cannot do. They can't keep spewing carbon. They can't keep businesses open as usual when millions are dying. They have concluded that research is the enemy of profit.

Unidentified men grabbing someone off the street and putting her in a car because she wrote an op-Ed. This as flatly authoritarian as anything we’ve seen in this country in a very long time.

Part of why elections in the US are so secure is because they’re run by 10,000 local jurisdictions like mine. Trying to rig an election is like trying to rob every bank in America at the same time To rig American elections, you need to federalize them. The President’s new EO is doing just that.

WOW: @miamiherald.com reveals that a person imprisoned in El Salvador had LEGAL REFUGEE STATUS. He entered the USA legally in January and was detained because of his tattoos, EVEN THOUGH he had previously passed a full background check. Without warning, he was sent to El Salvador on March 15.

Former 🇺🇸 ambassador to Russia 👇🏽

Yale just confirmed to me that the State Department did indeed cancel this contract for one of its research labs, which was tracking Ukrainian kids kidnapped by Russia:

Harold Pinter's The Hothouse - Next week only (Monday - Thursday) only 16 tickets left for some nights

So - I've actually led Ebola outbreak response at USAID. This is bunk from Elon. They have laid off most of the experts, they're bankrupting most of the partner orgs, have withdrawn from WHO, and muzzled CDC. What's left is a fig-leaf effort to cover their asses politically.

This is how the rōnin actually traveled

No one had died of measles in America for ten years, until yesterday. That 2015 death in WA was preceded by a 12y period of no US deaths. www.nbcnews.com/health/healt... HHS Secretary RFK Jr. says it’s “not unusual.” apnews.com/article/meas... It is unusual. www.cdc.gov/measles/data...
