If you are too young to remember the Iraq War, you'll hear "no one protested" and "no one knew they were lying." Millions of people knew they were lying and protested. The press not only did not want a record of mass dissent; they did not want a record of mass knowledge of lies.

All snark aside about the terrible Atlantic piece in favor of the fascist parade or the general downplaying of #NoKings, if you're going to take action, it's helpful to know that MSM orgs rarely support acts of protest. As a rule, they dismiss protestors or paint them as violent thugs. Be prepared.

Somewhere between Kansas City and Phoenix was this. Wonder that it was.

Get ready for Democrats to remind everyone what it looks like when they decide to oppose someone

@dhnexon.bsky.social - RE: Constitutional amendments @ LGM. Have you read Parliamentary America by Max Stearns? It suffers from being pre-Trump 2.0, but it's still relevant to your topic.

This is one my favored maps of Iowa because it shows the best relationships between counties, cities, and the road networks in-between while being legible. I'm waiting for someone with more time on their hands to show me how they'd 'consolidate' the counties to save money. (link in reply)

Hyundai LIES. www.hyundainews.com/en-us/releas... The program ended May 31st. I never received my email. Customer service had me sign in to the my web Hyundai account and go to communication preferences. The email notification in there was not selected. /1

@killjamesbond.bsky.social - we need you to watch this: www.pajiba.com/film_reviews...

SVU on ION TV right now - "Granting Immunity", circa 2015. The gang is investigating a measles outbreak from a high school sex and drugs party. Oy.

Swear to dawg, if the (@iowademocrats.bsky.social) Democrat(s) running against Ernst don't make this front and center of their 2026 campaign, they deserve to lose.

it's pretty damning when it's all laid out like this www.usatoday.com/story/opinio...

Obscenely good observational thread by @amandamarcotte.bsky.social. (Hey, this would be good for @convergencecon.bsky.social) I'll also note Pohl's Law said, "Nothing is so good that somebody, somewhere will not hate it".

Photoshop paint scheme mockup for the PanAm Tycho Clipper. This is the point where hardcore 1999 fans scream about the tail fins. Don't be that person.

I heard this in Robert's voice (@iwriteok.bsky.social‬)

8647. Mundus Sine Caesaribus.

Iowa State University’s President just announced she’s retiring in Jan 2026. I can hear the right-wing lunatics at the Board of Regents laughing in glee.

Highly recommended: Kara Swisher on Dahlia Lithwick's Amicus. Swisher is her usual self and I think Dahlia, who's no dummy, is kinda overwhelmed with the fire hose. (Sorry, @dahlialithwick.bsky.social)

I'd say the 'brownshirt' or 'blackshirt' of MAGA. It's no coincidence the the Proud Boys and the other informal thugs like wearing gaiters.

@donoteat.bsky.social What passes for my witty humor in Disqus:

Got a chuckle on her endnote: "Leo XIII is the Pope who - broadly - made the Catholic Church's peace with the nineteenth century. Quite late in the day." (1903, for the record)

Goddamnit, there goes more money.

*lol*

Story of the day, apparently. It feels like this is both the usual media bullshit, _and_ our media hoping that negative publicity might get the felon to back off. It won't.

Bluesky will be next.

Dear Grassley; "Trump Offers Private Dinner to Top 220 Investors in His Memecoin" I know it’s not lying about oral sex, which we all know is in the Constitution, but isn’t the word bribery somewhere in the impeachment clause, too? How about fraud under "high crimes and misdemeanors"?
