Summer is a great time for professional learning from the poolside! Join me tomorrow for the Mobile Learning Conference at www.nemcc.edu/mobilelearni... #edtech #professionallearning

Learning about and sharing about how AI and tech tools are changing the education experience of our students at the Dupage ROE conference. #edtech #ai #summerpd

Thanks for joining us tonight! Join us next month for another #engsschat. Keep tuning in to amazing #edchats throughout the month. #sschat #engchat #edchat

A8: One thing that I'd like to do is leave time for more revision with student writing. Revision is an important part of the writing process. #engsschat

Q8: What’s one change you'll make next year based on what you've learned about helping students transition this year? What can we do to help students academically? Socially or emotionally? #engsschat

Wow, this time has flown by. Our final question of the night is coming up!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and great ideas. We are getting close to end! If you have any great resources to share, feel free to share them. #engsschat

A7: Talking to colleagues about how to support students through these transitions is essential. Counselors are able to have conversations about post-secondary steps. #ensschat

Q7: How do you collaborate with colleagues (next grade level, counselors, etc.) to ease student transitions? #engsschat

Get ready to share ideas with Q6. #engsschat

A5: Endings are hard. We have a lot of senior activities to celebrate the end of the year. My favorite is post-secondary day where they wear shirts to signify schools, programs, and careers they will take on next. #engsschat

Q5: How do you make space for students to say goodbye, whether to each other, to the content, or to the year itself? What does your school community do, or what do you wish they did? #engsschat

Q5 is coming up. Let’s get ready to talk about endings. #engsschat

A4: Especially with juniors and seniors, I hope that they learn how to balance their time, set goals and deadlines, and understand that they can achieve so much. #engsschat

A4: I want students to believe in their skills. They are writers, speakers, readers, and listeners. They are capable of so much. #engsschat

Q4: What’s one lesson, habit, or mindset you hope students carry with them into the next chapter? #engsschat

Q4 is coming up! #engsschat

My seniors end the year delivering special occasion speeches. They pick the real-life occasion and give a speech to the audience of their choice. #engsschat

My juniors write the I-Search, which is a research paper about their future. They give presentations about what they've learned. It's awesome to hear about their growth. #engsschat

Q3: What assignments, projects, or activities help students reflect on their growth over the year? What do you do to celebrate endings and help students prepare for next steps? #engsschat

Let’s keep the learning going with Q3! #engsschat

A2: For Ss nervous about what’s next, I normalize those feelings, share my own experiences, and help them focus on what they can control. I also like to quote Beyoncé about her feelings of nervousness. Nerves are a good thing and mean we care. #engsschat

Q2: Transitions can be tough. How do you support students who are nervous or unsure about what comes next, whether it’s a new grade, school, or post-high school path? #engsschat

Let’s keep the conversation going and transition to Q2! #engsschat

A1: I also have students write letters to me. They reflect on what they learned, what they remember most about the class, and leave advice for future students. #engsschat

A1: A strong finish means giving students time to reflect, feel proud, and recognize how far they’ve come. I wrap up with activities like “Letters to My Future Self” and peer tribute speeches. Every student gets a chance to reflect and hear kind words from a peer about them. #engsschat

Q1: As we approach the end of the year (or just finished), how do you wrap up the year with your students? What does "a strong finish" mean to you, and how do you help students achieve this? #engsschat

Our first question is about to drop! Remember, tonight’s topic is all about embracing and preparing for “Transitions” in our classrooms and schools. #engsschat

Tonight, we’ll be using the combined #engsschat. We’ll be following the Q1/A1, A2, A3 format. #sschat #engchat #edchat
