My moral compass is that I try to treat people the way I would like to be treated. Note the "TRY" (I AM human) Besides being human (don't hold that against me!) I believe in climate change & conservation, but NOT in ultra-conservatism. I believe in HOPE

Senator-elect Elissa Slotkin on Trump's defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth: “There is just a lot of stress in the system, particularly from women officers, from women who are just now entering the military… about what they will and will not be allowed to do.”

@jenpsaki.bsky.social: “Banning trans youth from sports is not ‘meeting people where they are.’ It is simply falling prey to right wing propaganda, without checking the facts first.”

For most of recorded history, people have lived under despots and tyrants. But Americans maintain the belief that we can govern ourselves in freedom. No matter the twists and turns of politics, we won't let fear defeat solidarity. My interview with @slate.bsky.social:

I hate when they take away things you were just starting to really enjoy, like your favorite TV show or democracy.

Bluesky is going to have a big problem if it doesn't do something about verification. Offering the same stupid system that Mastodon uses is not a solution. It needs to be easy for accounts to use AND easy for followers to see. It is becoming a daily frustration. @jay.bsky.team @safety.bsky.app

The thing that keeps getting me about all the pieces fretting about Bluesky being too insular is that the argument seems to be that those of us who are most likely to be abused by the right (BIPOC people, trans people, queer people, etc) must put up with being abused for the sake of public discourse

When I was a child, I learned that the Constitution didn’t apply to people like us. I said the Pledge of Allegiance from inside a barbed wire camp, the words “with liberty and justice for all” wholly meaningless. But I did not give up on America. I’ve spent my life fighting for its ideals.

Facts matter. Science saves lives. Anti-science destroys them.

See now, this is the problem with finding a “Joe Rogan” of the left.

Anyone who is anti-vax is pro-death. Period. The science and data do not lie. And they don’t care about your podcast.

To grab the limelight, Nancy Mace has targeted Sarah McBride, the nation’s first elected trans House member. The vitriol from Mace has been contemptible. This is in sharp contrast with McBride, who has acted commendably and with grace. And ironically, McBride now has high national visibility.

We’re not going back.
