A lot of people say generative AI shouldn't infringe on copyright. These researchers actually tried to do it. The result: an 8 terabyte dataset of text that's openly licensed or in the public domain & 7 B parameter model that performs as well as Meta's Llama 7B www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

i know we're all excited but everyone needs to give it a little time and refrain from posting Deltarune spoilers until all 7 chapters are released

Very cool article on reconstructing scenes directly with triangles, without remeshing radiance fields or render Gaussians - I'm curious how amenable it is to retopologizing afterwards

Trying to replicate Slack's annotations (having people draw on top of screen share) over Discord First silly attempt: using Discord's whiteboard app chroma-keyed onto screen capture in OBS Studio and sharing the OBS preview, which _technically_ works, but doesn't let you see where you're drawing

Incredibly out of date at this point and probably not very practical, but part of me still wants to track down 2010's mini-est laptop Ben NanoNote, the 126 g "sub-notebook" with a 336 MHz MIPS processor running OpenWrt

Seeing the Norwegian state broadcaster have an article about Nasubi makes me want a word for the experience of reading about a bizarre subject, wondering when in the world you'd have the occasion to bring it up, only to suddenly have one of your more well-adjusted friends discuss it it at length

...I think I've finished Nubby's Number Factory

Late to the party, but really cool entry from this year's Revision: "Primer is an introduction to oscilloscope music, a genre and art form where vector visuals are formed by the music itself." www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Dif...

This is the comeback moment for Fun-Motion and games built entirely around funny rigidbody physics, "navigating an aircraft carrier through a slalom course without having the planes on deck slide off and fall into the ocean" is a game I want to see yesterday
