For many years, ICE has focused its attention on people with some kind of interaction with the law enforcement system (statistically a low-level offense). Being fingerprinted gets people on ICE’s radar. Detaining people with clean records was a fairly low priority. Under Trump, that’s changed.

Working at the Hotel Pfister gift shop in Milwaukee, I sold a USA Today & Alka-Seltzer Plus cold medicine to Michael Stipe. I later learned he'd flown in, booked into the hotel, & hit the road to Madison, where Tori Amos was playing with a cold that night, so I infer the cold medicine was for her.
