Sen. Chris Van Hollen: “I applaud Harvard's decision not to give in to bullying from the Trump administration.” He added that, in many cases, what students are doing is protesting the actions of the US & Israeli governments with respect to Gaza—not seeking to undermine US foreign policy.

Pick a side

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

We have overcome near-death experiences before. We shall overcome this one too. Not by denying we are in a constitutional crisis. We are. But we can and will prevail if we face the truth unflinchingly and never abandon the long twilight struggle against evil. open.substack.com/pub/roberthu...

"If America hasn’t broken your heart, you don’t love Her enough.” Cory Booker

Good Morning Everyone Senator Corey Booker I thank you GOOD TROUBLE is still going STRONG on the Senate floor I am so proud of you You are lifting up all of us. You are SPEAKING UP for the VOICELESS GOD SPEED, Senator Booker John Lewis is PROUD OF YOU

Thanks, Senator Booker! 15 hours and counting. As I get old, I'm learning that change NEVER seems to come easily, but it is definitely worth standing up for. And change does come eventually.

I don’t care what Donald Trump says about me. I wear his scorn as a badge of honor. But one lawyer — or even a thousand lawyers — won’t solve this problem alone. It will take the civic courage of thousands of leaders and millions of voters. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/trum...

Jen Psaki on #insidepsaki MSNBC tonight very directly opined that Chuck Schumer may be too old to lead Senate Democrats. Not a good look for MSNBC. I can't recall that ever happening before. We're all frustrated, but some are saying that Schumer's action may have been the lesser of two bad choices.

Each time I have sat down to write something since the election, I am bothered by this recurring phrase that I simply cannot get out of my head. So,I am going to just say it out loud: we are on our own. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/we-a...

John D. Gartner - a psychologist, psychotherapist, former assistant professor at Johns Hopkins University: Trump has three psychiatric conditions ⚠️Malignant Narcissistic Personality Disorder ⚠️Hyper Manic Temperament ⚠️Dementia.

Google it.

The media. Inspectors general. Prosecutors and FBI agents. Now law firms. Trump is attacking every form of accountability as he to takes control of our gov’t. Every institution—including the media and law firms—must stand up to this bully. Our democracy depends on all of us.

Trae, aka "The Liberal Redneck," speaks my language. Give him a try.

I love this.

We need a Navalny, not a Newsom. No offense intended against mainstream politicians like Newsom. It’s just that at this point we are way beyond the realm of normal bullshit politics.

There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you.

Musk views empathy as a “bug” that threatens his political agenda. This framing is instructive.

Remember when Trump said the government spent $8 million to make mice transgender? It was cancer research on "transgenic" mice, meaning genetically modified. What an idiot. www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

"Washington has become the court of Nero, an incendiary emperor, submissive courtiers, and a jester high on ketamine in charge of purging the civil service. This is a tragedy for the free world, but it is first and foremost a tragedy for the United States."

I’ve been feeling a particular affinity for the French these days … not just because I’ve watched Casablanca so many times lately that I know the words to the first verse of La Marseillaise forward and backward

Since writing this article, I have received messages from federal civil servants who tell me it is accurate, and that they are frightened. Please share this with anyone who doesn't understand the scale of the transformation. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

They should’ve raked the forests and released all the water in the reservoirs. Never would’ve happened if Biden was president.

We are firing Rangers at National Parks, scientists & aid workers that treat/prevent/research disease and feed the poor, & disabled vets helping fellow vets at VA hospitals, but the good news is we are going to buy a shit ton of crypto so Trump & his friends can make billions.

My Statement Condemning House Republicans’ Budget Deal Targeting Medicaid, Food Assistance and More:

"A small group of Republicans in the Senate and House, acting in concert among themselves and in cooperation with the Democrats, could make a fundamental difference. With their support, Congress could insist that aid for Ukraine be added to appropriations bills." www.thebulwark.com/p/what-a-wee...

The flow of reliable information to the public matters.

Seems like Hegseth's Stand Down Our Defenses Against Russia order should be getting a bit more attention.

New York Times, Jan. 26, 1935.

Many of Donald Trump’s actions appear senseless to onlookers, writes Jonathan Rauch. But there is a political strategy that explains exactly why he does what he does: patrimonialism. theatln.tc/ZLzRyGHe

Hope to see you there

“This is treason adjacent. I’m sure Pete Hegseth is very busy firing black people and women, so he’s not focused on the actual target here, which is Vladimir Putin.” @therickwilson.bsky.social on the U.S. halting offensive cyber operations against Russia.

What next? Putin gets his own office in the White House??

Republican Congressman, stop hiding! If you're hoping to somehow weather the storm and emerge on the other side unscathed, it is not going to happen. It will be too late. Our country will be gone - nothing to come back to. Unfortunately, your time to be brave is today. We're looking for heroes.

It's a mafia shakedown! Of President Zelenskyy but also all of Europe and former allies. Republican Congressmen won't do the right thing because of threats to their lives, but now we all have to fight against tyranny. Keeping our heads down is not an option. Zelenskyy is a role model for our kids

Is everybody getting this?

"We’re witnessing the self-sabotage of the United States" from @davidfrum.bsky.social www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

Any psychologist or psychiatrist (or former abused spouse) will tell you that President Zelensky gave a master class today on how to deal with a malignant narcissist. He is an amazing man. We can all learn from him.

Portrait of bravery - Olena and Volodymyr Zelenskyy 🇺🇦

We just watched Trump & Vance do Putin’s bidding in the Oval Office & it was horrific. Not even two months into this administration & it’s a disaster for the free world.
