EXCLUSIVE: Two DOGE employees have access to a network used to transmit classified nuclear weapons data and a separate network used by the Department of Defense, sources tell NPR.

BREAKING: There is yet another widespread outage of X.

I am pleased to have this article, “The End of Rule of Law in America” in The Atlantic this morning. Thank you, Jeffrey Goldberg, @theatlantic.com, @washingtonweekpbs.social, @adriennelaf.bsky.social, @beccarosen.bsky.social

I joined Ali Velshi of MSNBC this morning and Ali’s first question was about the President’s jarring answer “I don’t know” to the question “Don’t you need to uphold the Constitution of the United States as president?”

This is a shockingly mistaken understanding of due process by Stephen Miller. It is likely this misunderstanding that is informing the President’s misunderstanding.

“On Monday, Luttig told MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace that Trump's comments ‘are perhaps the most important words ever spoken by a president of the United States.’ He added that the story is ‘one of the most important stories of our times.’” www.rawstory.com/trump-consti...

From the great David Brooks of The New York Times, in the May volume of The Atlantic. Everyone should read every word of this historic piece. It's worth the price of a subscription to The Atlantic, without question the most courageous magazine in America today.

Markets want certainty, stability, and predictability. That’s how businesses plan, hire, and grow. What they don’t want is an unstable narcissist playing economic roulette on social media. Don’t be fooled, tariffs are still much higher on the world than before he was inaugurated.

Effective immediately, the government says it will begin screening immigrant social media for activity that officials think indicates support for antisemitism.

www.nytimes.com/2025/04/09/o... The punchline: The fundamental truth of Donald Trump is that he apparently cannot conceive of any relationship between individuals, peoples or states as anything other than a status game, a competition for dominance.

Foreign leaders are indeed calling to White House to figure out how to get tariffs removed, but the White House is not responding to the calls. And meanwhile they have little idea what to even offer Trump as "concessions" because he has no idea what he wants www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

Since SCOTUS (wrongly) relegated due process to habeas petitions (I told you it was a bad ruling), lawyers now have to sue on behalf of individuals in specific districts instead of those subject to deportation nationwide. And SCOTUS decided that with scant briefing and zero argument.

At DOJ, we used to call these “for profit prisons” and when BOP or a state used them, those inmates were still considered to be in the custody of that prison system for relevant legal purposes. There is no reason El Salvadoran terror prison should be any different.

If Trump is actually waving off tariff criticism because he thinks it's mostly just rich Wall Street Dems who are affected by market turmoil: Nope. Free to read: s2.washingtonpost.com/camp-rw/?tra...

What some people aren’t factoring into their analysis is the reality that companies were buying tons of inventory to beat the tariffs. That’s cash taken from being able to invest or hire. In fact the probably cut costs and jobs as a result. #econsky

It's outrageous that they gave Trump the powers trusted to them in the Constitution, even if just on an "emergency wink-wink basis" It's unconscionable that they're now proposing a way to block themselves from taking their rightful powers back.

Will they be screening Musk's social media?

This is quite incredible. The US Justice Dept, under Trump, is defending its birthright citizenship Order by arguing that immigrant children covered by the Order cannot be citizens because... the children of Native Americans aren't US citizens.

Mike Lawler (#NY17) is effectively helping school shooters and other mass shooters massacre more kids and adults than they could without his help. Our kids are not safe with Mike Lawler in office. We must not let him be elected governor of NY in 2026. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/07/u...

FT reports, possibly covered elsewhere too, that Apple shipped ten planes worth of iPhones from China to the US last week, to avoid tariffs. That's somewhere between 200,000 and 450,000 devices per plane.

www.nytimes.com/2025/04/09/o... This in a nutshell

Crockett: "My Republican colleagues are here using today to continue pushing this false narrative of sanctuary cities harboring criminals, yet right here in DC we have a 34 count felon being harbored in the White House."

Every House Republican who votes for today's rule is voting for Trump's tariffs. They're voting to surrender congressional authority and their own power to stop Trump. A vote for this rule is a vote to wreck our economy.

This is what happens when too many people would rather hurt others than help themselves. Literally nobody in America is benefitting from this.

This is big: House Republicans tucked language into the budget res “rule” that bans the House from voting to terminate Trump’s emergency declaration used to impose tariffs. TL;DR lawmakers who vote for this are officially giving up their power to revoke his tariffs until October.

How exactly was this an "agreement between the I.R.S. and Immigration and Customs Enforcement" if top IRS officials are resigning because they object to the "deal"? www.nytimes.com/2025/04/08/u...
