WTAF? When you burst into tears the second the meeting ends, and then you get an email like this: "Sylvia! You did quite excellent on your coding round- congrats! We'd like to move forward to the Technical Deep Dive"

Ugh, no better way to make me feel like a complete fraud than a coding interview. 😭

I don't understand the hate for AltYello. Ok, so they're not an "authority" on anything; once you get past that, are they doing anything worse than anyone else? What if I just like them for all the wildlife pics? 🦬🫎🐺

This looks super cool! Though I also foresee that as this gains adoption, a11y folks will have to remind people that good ol' tables (with headers!) are still the semantically correct choice for tabular data.

The only time equestrian sports appear in mainstream news. 🙄 Also, why are his absolutely fucking vile words the only quoted comments!? You do not rehab a horse with that attitude, jfc. 🤬

"At this point, we would assume everything is accessible because the deadline has passed." The broken logic hurts my head.

A quick home improvement project over the weekend has prompted an unexpected, slightly ridiculous art project, and I'm absolutely giddy about it! 😆

I love family lore like this. I grew up with "the TV scissors" like that was a totally normal phrase.

"You didn't do this right. Here are the details on how it's supposed to be done right." "Well, if you're so great, you show us how to do it better!" My dude, recognizing & doing are two different things. Those who have the skills, knowledge, time, money, & resources are the ones who should do.

Yes, presumably I am working on my next career move, but... these yaks! They just keep showing up, and they're so dang hairy! Gotta help 'em out! 🤷🏻‍♀️🐂🪒

And here I've been troubleshooting on my laptops and restarting my modem like an idiot all morning.

Pavel's saying way too much real shit this morning.

Honestly, the whole "no feedback" competitive paradigm of job interviews is hell. Days pass and I keep replaying them in my head, with absolutely nothing to tell me what worked or what didn't. [Five judges hold up signs, each says "NaN"]

My WFH supervisor always checks in on me when I have snackies.

When people vote for a tornado because they don't want to vote for more bad weather.

Nah, I imagine a future where people consider the accessible experience from day one, design with it in mind, and develop accordingly; where training and skills are developed because accessibility is a core feature, a core concern, not something you expect a software to 'fix' for you...

This absolute stunner. 💙

My new boilerplate HTML page for global styles?

Short feedback loops in systems (of all kinds) are becoming my new pattern obsession.

It's an aggro metal kind of afternoon. 🤷🏻‍♀️

These are the days I miss cleaning horseshit for money, because I knew the horses would continue indefinitely and would never pretend it was anything else.

Job interviews are the shittiest experience because you're asked to perform in isolation to someone's vaguely recorded expectations, and then are judged behind closed doors and provided no feedback on your performance.

A second day of painting in the building halls today. I'm sure management was thrilled to see that the paint "touch-ups" were eggshell over flat. 🤦‍♀️
