I had forgotten that the kid leads of 28 WEEKS LATER have names that sound like someone doing a pretty good job making fun of British people

it’s even more demoralizing when the history you’re repeating is history you were around for the first time

Drax is an insane greenwashing joke It has to be stopped www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Strange how any negative framing of auto culture is automatically anti-car & radical yet the billions of dollars spent on reckless car ads and auto first infrastructure isn't framed as anti-pedestrian, anti-bike, anti-transit, anti-person, anti-senior, anti-child or anti-planet.

“Brexit has shattered confidence in Britain’s economy” And yet the politicians who championed Brexit still strut around like they’re owed power, rather than a heavy dose of proper scrutiny and public disgust for the damage they’ve collectively done.

For today's #foxoftheday @picklingirl.bsky.social‬ discovered a family of foxes under their shed . . .

Deeply unimpressed by Green Party members campaigning against solar. Happily I think this is rare and but still dismayed to see it!

I used to get excited about thunder storms. Now that I've strapped our electrical supply to the top of the roof I'm not soo keen anymore 🏠⛈️😬 #RenewableEnergy

Lovely to arrive at Cheltenham lido this morning (on foot) and discover that they’ve covered their car park in solar panels since I was last here. This should be standard for car parks everywhere. Same goes for any large roof.

Good morning! ICYMI, I'm running the (free!!!) morning newsletter at @heatmap.news these days. Here's a look at the biggest climate news heading into Thursday...

😕 pretty much

ukrainian social media today:

Apparently the Romans managed the water from their aquaducts by prioritising public drinking fountains, then public baths, and rich people's houses last. Reading about the vast energy demands of future AI, I think we need that for energy. Poorest ppl first, luxury AI video cat memes last.

The fake ads are the best part of @theonion.com's print edition

are the brexit individuals or a hive mind

I've just found the electric trucker channel where he documents electric powered logistics. Really cool to see this as a reality youtu.be/_A7Y8qTdhXY?...

As I predicted yesterday, Russians will now start checking on trucks. This will further strain all kind of supplies, military and civilian alike. This is near Irkutsk.

A person on a bicycle is by far the most energy-efficient among animals and machines per distance traveled relative to body weight. The bicycle is magic. www.jstor.org/stable/24923...

In January, the BBC wrote an article fear mongering about pylons "springing up" across the country It contained some wildly misleading figures which spread to other newspapers. I'm glad to say they've FINALLY been corrected. Here's what happened...🧵 bbc.co.uk/news/article...

In normal times, the drop in UK exports since the pandemic and Brexit — and how they’ve been holding back GDP growth — would have been a major economic story.

Baby ducks are ducklings, baby geese are goslings, baby puffins are pufflings… does anyone know the official term for a baby coot?

Today Zurich 🇨🇭 celebrates the opening of the city tunnel - entirely dedicated to cyclists. Once planned as a motorway through the city centre, the plans have changed for the better, giving way to active mobility (and lots more bike parking at the main station).

It looks like Australia has a good incentive to decarbonise household energy

While committing climate change mass murder "Shell pays no UK tax on North Sea drilling & gets £12.4m back from HMRC" 'In contrast, the company paid a total of $3.4 billion to the Norwegian government last year & $243m in Germany' www.thenational.scot/news/2517667... #MakePollutersPay #TaxTheRich

“Brexit means we can make our own agreements with the EU, as we pick and choose!” - UK chooses to make agreement with EU on a handful of issues. “Brexit Betrayed!”

Appreciate Biden being open about his cancer diagnosis. Hope all works out well for him.

I got a new toy. Thanks for telling me about this, @futurebird , I never knew I needed a mouse size drone in my life 😂

Electric cars and heat pumps can help avoid 110 hours of negative electricity prices annually www.pv-magazine.com/2025/05/16/e... ... flexibility is needed for higher shares of renewables: smart charging & heat pumps are important, soon supported by electrolysers www.pv-magazine.com/2025/05/13/f...

NEW from me: China's CO2 emissions fell ~1.6% in the first quarter and have now been flat or down for more than a year. This is the first time on record that emissions are falling due to clean energy growth, not slow power demand.

Very cool of BBC to publish a ChatGPT version of an article that I wrote one year ago —which took me 9 months to report— and give me no credit for. So, please read the original! It’s a story that I was the first journalist to report: pulitzercenter.org/stories/pull... @pulitzercenter.bsky.social

Great work team 🥳

Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses. www.wired.com/story/why-ca...

The Observer was sold out of the Guardian Media Group (owned by the Scott Trust) a few weeks ago. It's now owned - like most UK media - by a billionaire-backed consortium. And hey presto - a puff piece for the Kinder, Küche, Kirche women of Reform!

The promise of grid-scale energy storage is that you can hold onto electricity for a bit and save it for later—rather than having to use it or lose it.
