Artificial Stupidity

Looking forward to this.

Science and the media, a cautionary tale.

Excellent explanation.

We’ve known this for years.

Wondering if ‘thou shall not suffer a witch to live’ is intended to prohibit the practice itself or merely to restrict it to men.

Well this should have come as no surprise to anyone.

The Tories shamelessly politicising a court verdict which will be traumatic and horrifying to so many people.

Meanwhile, here in the UK we have our own brand of stupid.

Fight Oligarchy? Now? Too bloody late. The Democrats had four years in office and the certain knowledge of Project 2025 and what Trump would do if he was re-elected. Four years. Four years of recovering and growing the economy for it to be wiped out. Useless.

It seems to me that a growing number of people cannot tell the difference between the two.

Stop using AI. Yes, even just for fun. AI is built on STOLEN images and text. That’s right: by using it, you’re stealing from your friends. There is NOT ethical generative AI. Bonus bullshit: it is HORRENOUS for the environment. (Yes, even the cutesy profile photo cartoon things.)

I see America has suddenly realised it was going to have to eat its own cheese.

Every day on #bluesky is an adventure as the Discover feed spams me with some random topic with no relevance to anything I've ever posted or interacted with. Today it's been cats. Yesterday, garden flowers. The day before, naked men. Before that, sunsets. What next? Septic boils? Plagues of locusts?

How many middle-class cocaine users think about where their money goes? They are funding human trafficking, modern slavery, rape, torture, and murder.

For anyone in the UK watching this and thinking, "This is America's version of Brexit," it's not. It's what would have happened if the lettuce had lost.

Since the EU referendum, the UK civil service has grown by approx 130,000 employees. Just to recall, the entire European Commission employs 32,169 people. The EU system as a whole has around 60,000 civil servants serving a bloc of 27 countries. #redtape #bureaucracy

roughly once a day at the moment I think of the guy I spoke to in Maryland before the election who was still undecided because "one of them's a felon and the other one's a woman! whatever happens no one will take us seriously again!"

No, it isn’t, Not when you understand that BBC management was and still is in thrall to the Establishment.

@bskyteam.bsky.social Why the fuck is my feed suddenly full of photos of naked men? I am not, and have never been, even remotely interested.
