FT: GCZ 4-0 Aarau Barring a miracle (maybe more than that), GC will be in the Super League next season.

Super League barrage, 1st leg HT: GCZ 2-0 Aarau Very little for the challengers to find in terms of positivity here. GC have been extremely professional and lead by two thanks to Lee and Schürpf.

If you enjoyed the scenes at Schützenwiese and want to learn more about it and Winterthur, don't forget to check out the latest Swiss Stadia episode: bsky.app/profile/swis...

Full Time: WINTERTHUR SURVIVE Schützenwiese goes crazy. Fireworks all over the place. This was a club that may as well have already been in the Challenge League at Christmas. Uli Forte pulled off an incredible job just to get them out of last place; to finish 10th is unbelievable.

Relegation Group - Final Round HT: Box office. Every single side in the relegation fight is winning at half-time. Currently, Winterthur - miraculously - would be the team to stay up, Yverdon would be down automatically, and GC would be back in the barrage games against Aarau. Madness.

The SFL have confirmed that SC Kriens have *not* received a license to play in the Challenge League next season. So, even if they manage to beat Rapperswil-Jona to the Promotion League title, they will not go up. Rapperswil will replace Schaffhausen in the 2nd tier next season.

New Pod! Swiss Stadia, Ep 3 - Schützenwiese A trip to Winterthur and Schützi turns into a reflection on industrialisation, false-dawns, and a refusal to accept defeat. If we're lucky, we might even get to talk football at some point. I really enjoyed this one. open.spotify.com/episode/16s3...

Super League results (18.1) Championship Group Young Boys 6-2 Basel Lausanne 1-1 Lugano Luzern 3-4 Servette So. Many. Goals. That second Champions League spot is still open to both Servette & YB going into the final day. Lugano just hold onto the Conference League, but it's all to play for!

Huge congratulations to Young Boys, who took their second ever Women's Championship yesterday, beating GCZ 2-1 on the day, before winning the title on penalties. Very tough on GC, but YB were - in my view - the rightful champions, having won the league before the playoffs.

Super League results (17.5) Relegation Group FCSG 3-2 FCZ: Chances galore in a high-scoring clash, despite both sides being safe. Winti 2-2 Yverdon: The hosts fight back from 2 down (including a 96th min penalty) to stay 10th. Sion 2-1 GCZ: Disaster for GC. It all comes down to the final day...

Big shock in the penultimate Promotion League games this afternoon: Biel-Bienne lose to Basel II, meaning they are *out* of the title race. It's down to Rapperswil-Jona and Kriens for the top spot. But, remember, Kriens don't currently have a license for the Challenge League and... ⬇️

1-2! Aarau look to have won it right at the death! A fantastic counter from Colin Odutayo ends up with Yannick Toure one-on-one with Antonio, and he makes no mistake. And, just to put the cherry on top, Toure has just scored again. 1-3. Aarau will have a shot to make it to the Super League.

1-1! Oscar Correia with an absolute peach of a finish. Excellent goal.

With the title already sewn up, all eyes are on 2nd place in the Challenge League tonight as Etoile-Carouge take on Aarau. If Aarau win, they secure their place in the barrage games for promotion; Etoile-Carouge need to win/draw to stay in the hunt going into the final day. Currently, 1-0 Aarau.

Super League results (15.5) Championship Group ➡️ Servette 4-1 Lugano ➡️ Young Boys 2-1 Luzern Victories for both Servette (2nd) and Young Boys (3rd) keep the top 6 looking exactly the same as it did before. Two games left for one of them to grab that UCL qualifying spot.

The story of Sampdoria's downfall, relegated to Serie C for the first time ever. _ by @cmcmenamy.bsky.social

As always, really interesting thread from Richard. This time on Niko Muci. He missed out the most important thing about Muci, however, which is - of course - that he only ever scores when GC draw. #GCZ

Two days ago was the anniversary of the Maksimir riot where Dinamo Zagreb and Red Star Belgrade ultras fought each other leading to the match having to be abandoned Some (wrongly) feel that the Yugoslav wars began on that day with the riot

Dan Ndoye's goal wins the Coppa Italia for honorary Swiss representatives, Bologna. Forza Svizzera!

Super League results (14.5) Relegation Group GCZ 5-0 Yverdon: Another early red for Tavares opened the floodgates in Zürich. A hugely important win for GC that leaves Yverdon bottom. Championship Group Lausanne 2-3 Basel: Even with significant changes, Basel keep rolling on.

🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭

If you're Swiss, you've got to be rooting for Bologna in the Coppa Italia tonight. Ndoye, Freuler, Aebischer... can we bring Bologna into the Confederation? An official protectorate of Ticino?

Super League results (13.5) Sion 1-1 St Gallen: A quick impact from HT sub Benjamin Kololli means the points are shared in Valais. FCZ 4-1 Winterthur: The visitors could have scored far more than the one they managed and regretted it by the end - FCZ take home the Cantonal derby spoils.

How Winterthur aren't 3 or 4 up in this game, only they know. FCZ have been dire (apart from Brecher).

The Swiss title returns to Basel for the first time since 2017. Servette draw 0-0 with Young Boys, meaning Fabio Celestini's side are officially champions. Huge congrats to FC Basel - deserving winners that have definitively proven their quality in the past few months.

Late drama in the Promotion League too: Biel-Bienne lose 1:2 in the last minute, leaving Rapperswil-Jona top of the table after wins for both them and SC Kriens yesterday. With just 2 games left, 1 point separates the top 3. What a race this has been.

A late goal in the first leg of the Women's Super League final gives Grasshopper Club the lead! Geraldine Ess slips her shot in at the near post. Not long for Young Boys to respond now. Looks like they'll be playing the home leg a goal down.

FT: Lugano 2-5 Basel Even with 10 men, Basel always looked like winning, mainly thanks to the human cheat-code wearing #10. The party is starting in the away stand at the Cornaredo. Basel are almost there. 🔴🔵

Down to 10 men? No problem, just have Shaqiri on your team. Lugano 1-4 Basel. Shaq-trick. Different class.

Super League results (10.5) Relegation Group FCZ 3-0 GCZ: A resounding result in the Zürich derby, which leaves GC bottom of the league. Yverdon 1-1 Sion: Another valuable point for both sides. Sion still need to be careful. FCSG 1-4 Winterthur: Wow, Winti. They put 4 past SG (again) to go 10th.

Plenty of Challenge League drama last night; time for the Super League! If Basel win today, then Servette must win against Young Boys tomorrow, otherwise the title will be heading back to Jogelli for the first time since 2017! They also won the Cup that year. I'm just saying...

From 2:0 up, Aarau lose 2:4 🤕 With Etoile-Carouge winning in Neuchâtel, that means, instead of cementing 2nd place, Aarau are now just three points ahead of the team they play next Friday... Huge game 😬

Game over in Schaffhausen after the delay; the home side are down. It ends 2:3, and you can't say Schaffhausen didn't try to rescue the game, but they couldn't make it happen. Stade Nyonnais' players aren't exactly making friends - celebrating their own survival happily - but that is their right.

Aarau were 2:0 up against Wil and looked in complete control, but went into half-time at 2:2. They just can't help themselves.

The game is currently suspended with Schaffhausen 1-3 down, assumedly because of fan trouble (no footage of the stands being shown on TV). Given all the off-field issues, you can understand the fans' anger; even more so with relegation all but set in stone.

Not looking good for Schaffhausen at HT: 0-2 down and struggling to find any kind of foothold in the game. Relegation will be confirmed unless they can somehow turn this around.

Potentially big night at both ends of the Challenge League this evening. If Aarau better Etoile-Carouge's result, they will confirm 2nd place and a chance to go up via the playoff. At the bottom, Schaffhausen will be relegated if they don't beat Stade Nyonnais.

Swiss Cup finalists FC Biel-Bienne won their game in hand tonight, taking them 2 points clear at the top of the Promotion League (3rd tier). With just 3 games left, the top 3 are separated by just 3 points, but only Biel and Rapperswil-Jona have been awarded a license for the 2nd tier so far.

Super League results (6.5) Relegation Group Yverdon 1-1 St Gallen: Rescheduled after torrential rain at the weekend, Yverdon pick up a valuable point against group leaders FCSG. That leaves them a point clear of GCZ and Winterthur at the bottom.
