Shit. Another, “I wish this was The Onion” moment—but with more terror.

The Massachusetts governor, the city, and the university needs to drop everything to locate and free this girl and make sure this doesn't happen again. This is DEFCON-1. If they do this to someone who wrote an op-ed in a college newspaper, they will do this to anyone they don't like.

So ICE is our secret police now. That’s …. Very Bad.

I wrote a couple sci-fi games about politics, power, and standing up for what's right. Possibly relevant in these times. Who knows! Either way, there's a great actual play three-parter that's just finishing up. Check out part 1 here: youtu.be/m6c8nngXStY?...

The general mood I’m hearing is that we should (1) sorta kinda give up, or (2) let people suffer what they deserve/voted for. How do I muster the effort for a third option?

😢: "Biden is like the protagonist in a horror movie who defeats the villain but doesn’t finish him off, … starts walking off into the sunset. All the while, with the audience screaming, 'Finish him off! He’s getting back up! Turn around! Oh god, I can’t watch...'" daringfireball.net/linked/2025/...

Amazing!

I suggest we end the age-old debate. Henceforth, there shall be two categories of Christmas movies: (1) Christmas movies and (2) Die Hard Christmas movies. You're welcome, humanity.

Car size bloat is real, and very dangerous. www.vox.com/politics/389...

You know it makes me feel better? Watching All the President’s Men along with Parks and Recreation. Sigh. Then I come back to reality and realize we need a new way to fight.

None of this is to say generative AI is going away or even less useful in its current form. But, I think, it does reinforce my skepticism that it's on the verge of creating any doomsday scenarios — as some have feared. #ai open.substack.com/pub/erikhoel...

Jazz meets classical — or maybe the other way around? Doesn't matter! It's really good. Jon Batiste's take on Beethoven: www.nytimes.com/2024/11/19/a...

It's in times like these that I go back to Ursula Le Guin's award acceptance speech. We are in for trouble, and it does us no good to equate "art" with "consumption" because it reduces all to a mere product instead of something vital. Anyway, give it a watch/read: www.ursulakleguin.com/nbf-medal
