You have to fundamentally realise what is really going on in America. Democracy doesn’t work for the wealthy. They want to rule. Democracy doesn’t allow that. So destroy democracy by controlling what people see and hear. Particularly effective for non critical thinkers.

.@CBS8 in San Diego reports that due to Bishop Michael Pham’s presence in the courtroom, in effect, cases of migrants today were postponed.

You know what’s more American than installing 88 foot flag poles at the White House? Following the Constitution.

Look what I found when I searched "ICE uniform" in Google Shopping. None of us have any way of knowing if the "ICE agent" pushing you into a car, isn't just some unbalanced vigilante into cosplay. These are very dangerous times.

For those who say “Illegal is illegal.” On this Juneteenth, remember: slavery was once legal. Harboring a fugitive enslaved person? Illegal. Black freedom? Illegal. “Illegal is illegal” has always been used to defend injustice. Legality ≠ morality. Justice calls us higher.

This is a vital message: one of the larger reasons BlueSky is refreshingly free of alt-right shitlords is because in the early days we made a gentleperson’s agreement to starve these fuckos out and it worked. No likes, no quotes, no engagement. They got bored and left. Please keep the Old Ways.

1. The amount of research I have that i will never use for this book is massive 2. There are also tons of little things that I didn't think I would use, but turned out to be hugely important once I started putting the pieces together.

With the tragic assassination of a Minnesota Democratic leader, I’m going to underline this point again.

The contrasting images of a DC ghost town/military parade and 1800 American cities and towns with well-attended protests is going to drive Trump batty.

Thank you to all of our service members and veterans. We appreciate you, your families, and your sacrifices for our country. Wish we were spending millions on you instead of a parade.

Sing.

Lesson 13 of "On Tyranny": Practice corporeal politics. Find your No Kings protest, June 14th.

I told you we’d be back

"If you have the courage to speak, we are saved. If you fall silent, the country is doomed." Scott Pelley had some strong words to share on tonight's CNN special after the telecast of "Good Night, and Good Luck." I wrote up the highlights here >>> www.cnn.com/2025/06/07/m...

“Fechez la vache!”

ICE raids hit across Los Angeles today—and locals are rising up. This is what resistance looks like. ✊🏾 This was about an hour ago…

Next time someone in Congress glibly dismisses your need for healthcare, remember that they have some of the best healthcare in the country. And it was paid for by YOU.

The reality that masked men without proper identification are confronting and arresting and taking away people should be intolerable to anyone who calls themselves American.

It should’ve ended when he made fun of a disabled reporter. Period.

CBS News anchor Scott Pelley asked all of the pivotal questions during his commencement address at Wake Forest this weekend, mainly: Who are you? Who are you in this moment? Worth a read below:

Been thinking about this question for a bit. The thing about these these people is that they truly don’t regard defrauding investors or embezzling money to be crime. “Real crime” is a homeless person chasing you with a horrible bloody ax, all this other stuff is just a hobby or something.

The U.S. ambassador to Ukraine Brinks, who just resigned, goes nuclear on President Trump Brinks: I was U.S. ambassador to Ukraine. I resigned because of Trump's foreign policy: to put pressure on the victim, Ukraine, rather than on the aggressor, Russia. 1/

If you sat down a random panel of Americans and told them what Republicans are currently doing, my guess is that the vast majority simply wouldn't believe you. It comes off like you're describing a Bond villain. The reality sounds wildly different & more extreme than what they hear organically.

(Not just science)

I don't know what to say. I gathered signatures for a higher minimum wage and earned sick time and bodily autonomy and all three were passed by voters in my state. Republicans disregard our Constitution and our will. They don't give a shit. missouriindependent.com/2025/05/14/m...

The question isn’t whether people like my daughter have something to offer. It’s whether society is finally ready to stop measuring value with the wrong scale. Autism doesn’t destroy families. Ignorance does. Isolation does. Shame does.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like if a US exchange student in a foreign country (say, Turkey?) was imprisoned for six weeks because they wrote an op-ed in the student newspaper it would be a huge domestic story and an international incident.

🧪 BOOM: The AAU, ACE, APLU, and 13 universities just filed suit today against NSF for slashing to 15% indirect rates. Full compliant: www.aau.edu/sites/defaul... Updates: www.aau.edu/resources-aa... A similar group of plaintiffs won a *permanent* injunction against a similar change at NIH.

I am not a lawyer, but I know we do not serve a King in this country and EOs are not laws and we need to stop acting like they are. I am not following the shit Trump decrees from his imagined throne on high. open.substack.com/pub/jesspipe...
