Just said goodbye to my NIH MIRA award. Really hurts to see the word “terminated” in writing. Even worse to see it next to the F31 awarded to a fantastic PhD student in my lab @aybv.bsky.social. I REFUSE to let this stop us!!!

Preprint alert from the Freedman lab! PhD student Erandika Senevirathne reveals a unique role for the Src-family kinase Lyn in maintaining steady-state signaling in macrophages and a role for the phagocytic synapse in protecting against negative feedback by SHIP1. 🧪 www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

We have a fantastic agenda planned for the 6/2025 FASEB meeting "Signal Transduction in the Immune System." Top-notch science, career/policy sessions, flash talks, and lively discussion. Message me for info on registration awards. Learn more and register now: events.faseb.org/event/Signal... 🧪

The NIH eRA Commons website has been down all afternoon. Does anyone have insight on whether this is a glitch or a plan? 🧪

I ❤️ UW Immunology. Thank you @jmoltke.bsky.social. komonews.com/news/local/t...

I think people both within science and outside science don’t fully appreciate the miracle that were the Covid-19 vaccines. How much courage it took to get the sequence out, how much work had already gone into figuring out the best viral antigen and how best to present it. 1/

Excited for my first bluesky post announcing TWO openings for tenure track positions in virology! I am chair of the search committee and with a new department head Mike Gale we are in an exciting building phase. Please share with anyone who might be interested: hr.myu.umn.edu/jobs/ext/365...

I'm here giving BlueSky a try. Can this community replicate the pre-x Twitter experience? I'm hoping the best parts of the scientific, artistic, philosophical, and political discussions will come together again. (Let x=Elon, pandemic, content-onslaught, etc. that caused me to delete the app.)
