Has anyone ever made a spiritual successor to Arcanum? I feel like I haven't seen anything else that specifically played with that dynamic of tech and magic being opposing forces in a world where the balance of power is rapidly shifting from the latter to the former

X-Com Apocalypse, doing all the crazy stuff they wanted to do but got cut during development. Would it be good? I have no idea, but it would at least be very interesting.

Came up with a really good post in a dream, it's now been several hours since I woke up and I just remembered the dream but not the post. Not entirely clear on how mentally healthy it is to be dreaming about posting. If I remember the post I guess I'll let you know

If there's anything I hope young creatives take from David Lynch, it's to reject the modern IP-driven impulse to explicitly explain and cleanly categorize the logic behind every single event and decision inside and outside of a story at least some of the time.

If there's one piece of advice I can give to game developers, it is to never wink at the player. If your game is being ridiculous, just let it be ridiculous. If you are making a reference, let the player get the reference or not, on their own. When you call out the joke, it ceases to be funny.
