I appreciate all of the folks that are becoming slightly more aware that capitalism is the problem to making things better but they have the caveat that “unregulated capitalism is the problem” we had regulated capitalism and look where it got us! If you reset the board it’s still a game of monopoly

I don’t think Joe Biden’s mental acuity should affect the 2028 presidential race, but if the people that lied and covered for him don’t take responsibility for that it’s going to be hard for people to trust Democrats in 2028.

“Warfare is an anti-war movie” It’s actually just an anti-Iraq war movie about how sad it was that a few of our boys had a bad time. Come and See has a survivor of a Nazi atrocity come to terms with what it would mean to kill baby hitler. Warfare says “damn, isn’t it scary when we don’t use drones?”

They don’t do this out of some sort of “resist” mentality. His appointees are much younger and plan to be in power for a long time. If they give the president all the power Trump wants, when Trump is out of office, what stops the next person getting them out? It’s self preservation not selflessness

I am glad to see people start to talk about mass actions but I think there are things missing from this, no one who is currently in or near positions of power are going to be the people we need to fix this. They were the ones who let it happen to begin with! We will be the ones to save ourselves.

As someone who works for Head Start I can personally attest I had no idea what the program did when I was first hired on as a temp. Through working with other staff and the families at this program I learned that Head Start is a program that keeps many vulnerable people heads above water! Support HS

No party “Ousted” Nixon, and even if he was scared that they would have, he got a full pardon before any charges were even brought up. And guess what, both sides saw that as a good thing! There has never been consequences for doing something illegal as president except maybe you don’t win reelection

Many people bring up that the Soviet Union was evil for a plethora of reasons. It definitely had its flaws. The thing is no one truly reckons with the fact the United States is not in fact a paragon of Freedom Things that are happening now have been happening, it’s just on a larger more public scale

I think the larger issue is that there has never really been a time when politicians in America weren’t corrupt, just times when Americans had more or less faith in institutions. We just don’t seem to have an established leader who can renew people’s faith in the American project

Citizen United is awful, the US was founded with the idea that owing private property was what would make you a participating citizen. The issue isn’t just Citizens United, it is our foundational understanding of what a citizen is. Can’t just take out the carpet if the foundation is rotten.

I think there’s some coalition building that needs to happen in order to stop fascism. However, the political disengagement that happens when Dems are in office is a cause of why fascism has been able to ascend. Does discussing this in a 299 character help anyone?
