A kid at school came up to me and said 'Ms Fieschi do you know the movie Sylphvania Grove?' So, quite taken aback and all smiles, I said 'I do, I made that movie.' He said he watched it on the weekend and liked it. This absolutely made my day, still smiling about it days later 🥰

Good morning to everyone, but especially to all the polar bears, for today is their special day! This illustration of a polar bear comes from 'Animated Nature' (1828) by Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon. 📷 Reserve 590 BUF #InternationalPolarBearDay #PolarBearDay #RareBooks

The Government is considering allowing AI companies to freely use your works, unless you opt-out. This is unfair and unworkable. Now is your chance to tell them what you think! Submit a response to their AI consultation using the guidance below. www.alcs.co.uk/news/your-ri...

Who’s been putting off filling in that government consultation on AI then? Because you took one look and realised that fucking thing was designed SPECIFICALLY to put you off? Don’t worry, there are three online guides to help you: The Association of Illustrators theaoi.com/news/the-cop...

Libraries matter more than ever now! They embody a beautiful & brilliant idea that we must never stop defending. The idea that knowledge is free & belongs to EVERYONE. We all need to support our libraries & librarians - especially when people seek to ban books & free thinking. #libraries #books

Every single school should have a library & a librarian, to help every single child find the books that will make them readers, and give them all the lifelong benefits of literacy. Libraries & librarians change children's lives FOREVER! #literacy #libraries #librarians

Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers. 5/20

'Let your children read what they want – within reason, without pressure. Please don’t tell them you were reading weighty tomes at their age, it’s not helping. Resist that urge, relax your rules, let them read.' #UKKidLit #KidLitUK #amreading #childrensbooks #BookSky

Please enjoy.

Public library energy is the best energy. Like here is all the knowledge we could find, it's been meticulously organized and vetted and it will cost you nothing today, welcome to the absolute pinnacle of human civic evolution, feel free to pull up any bean bag chair you like

Never forget: READING FOR PLEASURE has the biggest positive impact of any factor on children's life chances. So never stop sharing books with kids. Never stop reading to them, and helping them to read. Never stop changing lives. #literacy #kidlit #books

To celebrate the film of THAT CHRISTMAS coming soon, Puffin have put all three of the Richard Curtis books that the film is based on (THE EMPTY STOCKING, SNOW DAY, and THAT CHRISTMAS) together in a beautiful new edition!🎄❤️

In 2023, I read 59 books. 44 were library books. I put all those library books in a shopping cart on That Site. It came to £401.90!!!! And that's just for me - not my kids. Eldest has borrowed 62 books this year SO FAR.

Hey Blue Sky! I'm new on here. I'm a writer and filmmaker. I love genre and tend to write lots of fantasy, especially aimed at children (and the young at heart, obs.) but not only! My short films are available on various platforms. I hope to connect with storytellers linktr.ee/rjffieschi

I loved reading these to P1s and P2s. The children enjoyed them very much #picturebooks

Following up on @amalelmohtar.com's comments on "paranoid and reparative" styles of reading in last week's British Library discussion on Angela Carter, I found my way to this thought-provoking essay by Molly Templeton, highly recommended. www.tor.com/2023/08/10/o...
